I have a mint synthetic cz 527 carbine in 223 rem with a necg peep sight on it and fiver optic front sight. Bought it new. 150 or so rounds through the gun now. Still have the brass that’s been through the gun so I could give an exact number. Wondering what is an appropriate asking price for this gun. She’s mint just like she came out of the box. Smooth functioning bolt. Not gritty like the one cz 527 I had in the past.
 
i paid $855+tax for one in Febuary before the plague hit. I honestly wanted the mossberg for the AR mag compatibility but the CZ 527 is a great rifle. i had 7.62x39 versions and like the a lot so bought the .223 synthetic. i have shot ten round with irons and american eagle bulk and it grouped within 1-1.5 inches right on target first time at the range. Very happy with the little rifle.
 
They're not as desired as the x39 versions. I've had both (I miss both, especially the x39 version and wish I still had them) but the 223 version was harder to sell. I think I paid 900$+ shipping for it and sold it for 850$ shipped. Great rifles but the one I had just didn't get any use so I sold it off and used the money for something else.
 
Mine was over 1000$ with taxes without the 130$ peep sight. What is more desirable bout the x39 version? More recoil? Makes ur feel more powerful? Cuz energy wise the 223 with 55 grain is right close to the same energy plus flatter trajectory and no steel casings either for the most part. I’m not sure why guys think the x39 is more desirable. Fill me in here haha. I like this rifle a lot but I have two other custom 223 bolt guns so kinda too many lol
 
Yeah I pulled my rear sight blade off and put a peep sight on the receiver. Absolutely amazed how accurate I can hit small targets at several hundred yards with a peep sight

While similar in energy delivered, I think the x39 is looked at as a better penetrator than a 223. The bullets for the x39 are over twice the weight and there's also a substantial difference in the diameter of the projectile. Combine the two and you are likely to a have larger and deeper permanent wound channel. While I personally believe it to be marginal, I've seen posts of guys on here shooting moose with the x39 and not having any problems with it. If it was all I had in my hands and a trophy bull moose walked out in front of me, I'd likely give it a try too.

Makes sense but I’m thinking a 223 loaded with something like a 70 or 77 grain solid copper hunting bullet would definitely cut the cake too in penetration in a larger animal

Does yours have a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist rate? Not sure if they've changed things as I believe you have newer model than I did. But mine had a 1 in 9 twist and wasn't really a fan of anything over a 62 grain. I'm with you on the heavier copper pills being good penetrators though. I bet they'd work a lot better than most people would give them credit for.
 
You'd have to give em a try and see Mike. Every gun's a bit different and yours might like them. With mine, anything 65 and up was giving me somewhere around 1.5"+ with a 5 round group. With 62's it was hovering around the 1 inch mark. Could have just been the winchester ammo I was using for the 65's that gave me that kind of group. I'm not sure and can't blame the twist rate completely. And that's more than acceptable accuracy for most out of a hunting rifle and would do the job just fine at any reasonable hunting distances. 1 in 9 won't handicap the 223 by any means. A 62 grain partition loaded up fast would very likely be a great deer round.
 
1-9” twist is much much better than the standard twist out there but 1-8 or 1-7.5” is prob nicer for this reason. 1” groups is plenty good out of a little carbine like this but I bet with handloads can be easily improved upon!
 
I took my peep sight off my 527 carbine. It looks better with the rear sight blade installed so I’m hoping I can still shoot pretty accurate with it this way. I know peep sights are more accurate. Atleast to me
 
I get good accuracy with 60 grain Nosler partition in a 1:9 twist. I think they changed the twist in 2014, from 1:12 to 1:9. I'm not aware of any factory barrel for the carbine having any other faster twist but there might be some. Cannot comment on any heavier bullets if they would stabilize or not.

Could you tell me what brand/model of peep site you have? I might put one on mine and it makes life a little easier if I know which one works beforehand. Your help is appreciated .

The only reason it seems that more people have x39’s is because Tenda was selling them for less than $800 at one point. Lots try to sell it for the same value as the 223, but it’s at least $200 cheaper in my book. People with the 223 Carbine usually don’t sell because it’s a great gun. Mines a keeper
 
NECG peep sight for the cz 527. If you don’t already have a fiber optic front sight from factory you will have to order a new front sight that is taller or else the peep sight will be useless. May sell my peep sight depending on how accurate I can shoot with the rear sight blade installed.
