CZ 527 Carbine

todbartell has one, in 221 Fireball- that, as well as the numerous Mdl 70's, Mdl 94's, Abolts,. BLRs, Ruger 77's. Ruger #1's, Mausers, Savages and a few I have forgotten that he has loaded/owned- prety much dispells the rumur that he ony has experience wiht Remongotns!:p

Anyway, I got to handle his CZ, and it is a nice rifle. I didnt' shoot it, but he gets good accuracy form it.

I htnk it is a dandy walking around rifle, too!:)

Have one in 7.62x39mm and it was a real surprise -- with cheap Federal FMJ ammo, it shoots +/- 1 MOA out to 200 yards. With a Hornady FMJ and H414, it shoots an honest 3/4 MOA. And that's measured with 5 shot groups.

I have one in 223 and yes its quite light. Its a very good shooter. I think mine does about 1.5 inches at 200 with cheap ammo. It has an adjustable set trigger which I really like. I think the mag is kinda cheap though (and reasonably cheap to replace). When I first got it the mag lips were really sharp and would cut into the first round (on a full mag) making it kinda hard to load. 5 minutes polishing it up made a big difference. I think if you took the time to work up a load as well as bed the action and float the barrel, it would be an exceptional shooter.

That was the problem I had on mine. It gouged the brass so severely I didn't want to reload it.

The biggest drawback for me with these guns is the reverse safety. I know some people just think of removing the safety as "cocking" the 527 but I'm not comfortable with a safety that is opposite to my other rifles.

CZ makes a nice rifle. The wood on my 527 American is tremendous for a rifle that sells for under $900. You should like it

Heres a target pic. 5 shots at 200 yrds on a breezy day with WWB 45 grn hollow point (.223). I could see my cross hairs were moving a bit so there is room for improvement even with this ammo (larger lines are inch marks and smaller lines half inch).

I think if you email Mark and ask for a price quote, you will find the CZ 527 Carbine in .223 or 7.62 x 39 goes for $695.00 tax in.
