Hi all,

I am in the process of purchasing a CZ 527 Varmint Kevlar rifle. I am aware that scopes need to be mounted high to avoid the bolt handle. I was originally thinking of using Warne High rings, however I have heard that there is also a CZ 527 rail adapter available that will allow the use of standard weaver/picatinny type rings.

Is the rail adapter a solid set-up? Would standard weaver type rings on a rail adapter be a weaker setup than the Warne's attached directly to the dovetail? If not what ring height would you use with the rail adapter? I am planning on having a scope with an objective in the 44-50mm range.

What do you guys have on your 527's? Pics would be nice :).

The CZ rail is not overly solid in my opinion, and even with low rings on the rail, the scope is higher than I prefer.. As to the bolt contacting the scope, I modified my bolt by removing about 1/8" of material. Unfortunately I sold the rifle, and I no longer have pictures of it.

I don't want to rock your boat but the cz-527 is meant to be a light ''walking''varmint rifle.
Putting a 50 mm scope on Hi ring will offset the balance of the rifle. But wathever suit your fancy.

For me a good quality compact and light 2-7 or 3-9 power scope in 27-40 mm max. would be super. YMMV

High Rings are required on most 527's as the bolt handle will contact most scopes if they are mounted in anything lower.

This rifle has a 24" Heavy barrel. I do not want to limit myself to a low magnification optic when I'll be shooting at small targets at longer ranges.

Don't compromise scope height.

The 527 bolt handle is a separate piece and is available for a reasonable price (cz-USA has them for $18, CRAFM should be able to get one). Grind away.
