Cz 527 ??

I have a CZ 527 (221 fireball) and I like it a lot:D .

The reverse safety is a little different but it is easy to get used to.

It has very nice wood on it.

As for the scope mount thingy, I have a 3-9X40 (Bushnell Elite 3200) mounted in CZ rings and I have found that for me it shoulders and points beautifully:cool: . No issues with it being mounted too high for me.:)

And the rifle is accurate to boot!:dancingbanana: :dancingbanana: :dancingbanana:

What's not to like?:D

I have one in a 221 Fireball........first two factory rounds that hit paper went in the same hole....the third was a half inch away......shoots the first reloads I've tried into 3/4" and less....it's a keeper....it'll probably replace the Hornet in the gopher patches this summer....now to find a varmint version in a 222/223 and set it back and rechamber to a Fireball....

well, lets make three of us  :D I should have a CZ 527 in 221 Fireball within a couple weeks...I think this is the first "new" non-Remington rifle Ive bought since 2004 when I picked up a Savage in 300saum  :D CZ looks like a nice lil rifle and the Fireball has always intrigued me. Should be fun I will keep posted as things go

I was going to buy a Remington 710 to test but this Savage was on clearout for like $325, couldnt pass it up. Shot it 15 times then sold it for $750 w/ an Elite 3000 :p

I have some pretty good .221 Fireball data (most of which came from 44Bore!). Beater has a hole-in-hole load with some powder I don't have, I forget what it is but he had ten pounds of it so he did not think he was going to run out any time soon......

It is a fabulous cartridge, no recoil and great accuracy.

I have no opinion whatsoever about the CZs though, never had one in my hands.....

I finally bit the bullet and decided to upgrade my good ole norinco jw-105 (.223). I purchased the cz527 lux in .223 and had a chance to fire it today. The jw105 must be a copy of a cz/brno because they are somewhat similar (mag, bolt, bolt release etc). I only had WWB with me. cz527 shot the 45grn into an inch or slightly better at 100yrds. I only had 5 rounds of WWB 55grn and it shot them better again. Here's some target pics. Its off center because I was sighted in for the 45 grn and only had 5 rounds of 55 grn so didn't try to resight. I also think this group could be improved upon.

The found the trigger to be great off the rack (a guess is 3-4 lbs) and after setting is perhaps 2 lbs. The only thing I don't like is that the mag is pretty tight when you put 5 rounds in it but I'm sure it will loosen up over time.

got my CZ 221 Fireball today, what a nice rifle! Beautiful wood stock, nice balance too. Mounted a Leupold FXIII 6x42 and hit the range. Only tried one bullet/powder combo, in a variety of powder charges from minimum to almost max. Accuracy was so-so, but Im almost at the right speed with .2 grain below max. Was shooting 50 gr Speer TnT over H4198. Gonna give the gun a good cleaning and try it again on the weekend :D I forgot my camera at home so no good pics of it yet :)

As A-Zone pointed out, the scopes do sit a bit high, but it's not that bad. I'm still able to maintain something that passes for a cheek weld.

The proof is in the pudding, of course, and these really are wonderful little rifles. I've got two (a .22 Hornet and a 7.62x39mm) and both of them are on my "don't even think about selling" list. The Hornet should probably be charged with genocide in light of all the gophers it has put to rest at ranges out to 200 yards. And the 7.62x39 puts most of my other bolt action sporters to shame when it comes to group size.

My only complaint would be the trigger as it comes out of the box (lots of creep) -- but it's eminently user adjustable. Which I guess is a plus, not a complaint. With a bit of time spent tinkering, I managed to get the triggers on both rifles to very acceptable standard pulls, and very sweet set trigger pulls.
