Hey everyone, i just bought a new CZ 550 full stock and it showed up with a super cheap thin plastic floorplate. What is up with that?? Anyone else get rooked on that??

HH

yes there is some plastic involved with the cz's and alot of other new firearms on the market today. the older brno model 600's and 602's were all metal and had better quality trigger springs. the safety lever on the old ones was backwards according to what we are used to with the fire position pulling back on the safety lever. that being said, i don't think there is a better mauser style action out there for the money than the brno 600's and 602's. build whatever calibre you want on these actions.

So why's you so afraid of platic? Just outta curiousity....that's the world you live in man. Pussies have been asking for lighter rifles all along, and then they got their wishes...T3's . You blame manufacturers' for their shortcomings, but yet they respond to market demands.....you pussies want lighter rifles to pack in the bush, and then you'll complain about hefty recoil. Wahwhawha.

Long as it dont rust, dont break, and keep the bullets in who cares? Did you ask if they had a metal plate you could buy instead?

its just really really cheap, itll break for sure, way too light duty, and looks awful

That's too bad, CZ was quickly becoming my favourite manufacturer of old-skool quality guns. I have no problems with plastic parts on certain guns - guns where lightweight is a priority, and with plastic stocks. The plastic on the T3, for example, doesn't really bother me too much. But it has no place on a finely crafted blued/walnut classy gun.

ouch... another one bites the dust-ah.

theres always Ruger, with 0% plastic. they even upgraded their metal floorplates to even better metal ones :)
a shame about CZ, they used to make some nice guns. its not right that you buy a gun and then you have to order metal replacement parts from the factory for it.

I have cz's with both, Originally I wasn't too happy when my 9.3 x 62 showed up with a plastic floorplate and follower but it hasnt proved to be an issue yet. I called the canadian distributor and inquired , he didnt have any metal in stock but they are available so if and when it ever breaks I'll worry about it then.

Exactly! I wouldn't buy a new CZ with a plastik anything on it. Tikka? .. maybe.

You want "ALL STEEL"? ---------> See my sig line. :dancingbanana:

.

Maybe??? I thought you had some class man... :(
Dear Davey olde boy ....

I am typing this slooooow, cuz I know you can't read fast. ;)

My point about the Tikka was ....... Some guns are more "plastic appropriate" than others. Tikka being one of them. The CZ definitely is not.

Love, SC :)

yes i have a 550 full stock in 30-06 i love the rifle and bore but am a little disapointed in the trigger creep and the magazine plastic floor plate, i am taking mine to a gunsmith and gettint a machiend floor plate, bedding of barrel and action aswell as a trigger job, aswell i should mention in the short actions ie 308,243 come with steel removable magazines
