CZ 550 ring mount options. Quick Release or Standard?

I recently picked up a CZ 550 full stock in 6.5 X 55 and am really liking the iron sights. I haven't settled on a scope yet (other than it will be a Leupold) and I'm considering a QR option.

Does anyone out there have experience with QR rings on their CZ? I know Warne makes them but are there others?

Thanks

I purchased Talley quick release rings for my CZ550FS in 3006 from Prophet River and I found them quiet satisfactory, however I ended by with CZ550FS in 308 which had Warne Maxima quick detach rings for which I traded the CZ550FS in 3006. I think the Warne quick detach rings are better than the Talley ones because the extension on the back ring which fits in the lug on the left side of the receiver completely fills it, where as with Talley rings does not and you have to remember to position the rear ring as far back as possible. I cannot in truth say if this makes any difference when reattaching the scope, since I did not have the CZ550FS in 3006 long enough to confirm this.

Do you find the lever to stand out or take away from the slim look of the rifle?

My CZ550 FS in 9.3X62 came with the Warne rings and I think they look good on the rifle.
I positioned the rings so the takedown levers are on the right side of the rifle, reason being I had a different brand on another rifle with the levers on the left and they snagged on clothing or a pack whenever I slung the rifle.
If they are on the bolt side they work well and look ok....

Good advice thanks. Have you tried taking the scope off and seeing how accurate it holds zero?

When I first had the rifle it would plant a three-shot group 3/4" left of the original group when the scope was detached and re-mounted.
Now the difference is negligible if at all, so they may have settled in ?
On a different rifle I had of another make the Warne rings on it could not keep the shots within three or four inches of the sight-in group, although probably not the fault of the rings.
Another different rifle, my 404 has Leupold QDs and retains perfect zero when removed and re-mounted...

Actually, you have it backwards - one must position the rear ring as far FORWARDS as possible, so that the leading edge of the ring extension butts up against the FRONT of the notch on the left side of the receiver. Otherwise the ring is not supported during recoil and it will likely move forward in time - luckily it's only on a 30-06.

Seeing as how it is on a 6.6, if it were me, I'd go with a non-detachable set - no levers to snag on things - they're also quite sharp on the hand if you're carrying the rifle by the action. I have a Med set of Talleys on my Brno ZG47 - they're a good, stout ring, but waaaayyyy too high.

My beef with Brno's / CZ's and Talley's is that a Talley is a VERY high mount, and don't even make a low set - they only offer a .410" and a .500" (distance from top of receiver to bottom of scope tube). I just took delivery of a set of low (.300") QD rings by Alaskan Arms LLC. MUCH better than the Talley's IMHO, but if you put a set on a Brno or CZ, you will have to have the bolt handle scalloped to clear the objective bell of your scope.

So there you have it:
- if it's a non-QD mount that you want, go with a Talley.
- if it's a QD mount that you want, go with a set from Alaska Arms LLC
