Hi all,

Recent sale on the cz 600 has me thinking of picking it up as a deer rifle. It's very tempting at $500 off:

I know that it had a recall, and lost the ability to swap barrels (at least at home) but reviews make it out to be a decent gun.

I don't know much about this ~$1000 bolt action segment... Can anyone recommend me something better at this price point or would this make a good deer rifle for the money?

I bought the CZ 527 in 7.62x39 for $900 a year or two ago. Wonderful gun but wish it was a more powerful caliber. This apparently is better but also it's a plastic stock compared to the wood stock on the 527. For $900 it's a great deal I think, however, I'm looking for a 300 win mag.

Looks like they are releasing an American version in the US, probably why the big sales are on now for the Lux

7.62x39 will work great for deer.

Buy it before someone else does and you kick yourself for missing out on a good deal.
Then you will be able to brag on the savings and how great it is.
Another plus is you can use the money saved towards a good leupold scope.
Rings I have no experience with, but anything CZ shoots very good for the money.
Just my .05 worth of Justinflation.
Tight Groups,
Rob

**To late, they are sold out in Odd 6.

Thanks folks for the input!

I have ended up deciding that at $900 I will probably spend a little more and get a T3X lite, which seems to be a favourite at this price range. The cz has some nice things like the rail, but the t3x seems to be so consistently recommended that I think I'll go that direction.

Oh shiat. Out of stock. That was a great deal!

I've been patiently waiting to see if the CZ600 will be a success but it seems slow going.
Seems to have some cool features going for it.

I wanted one, a lot. After handling one that disappeared. Very front heavy (alpha model). Awkward position of bolt release really bugged me for some reason though it shouldn't matter much.

Lux weighs in at 8.6lbs for some models, and they have a 14.6" lop for all models.
Not sure they are even meant for hunting lol

Wow no kidding!

Yeah, I'm having a bit of buyers remorse, jumped on the sale and grabbed an 8x57 Lux, I have 3 8x57 commercial hunting rifles I was going to replace with 1 "nice" one...sell the old 98 and 96 based mausers and it would be a wash and free up some room.
Now I'm not so sure, may just dump the new Lux at a loss lol. Can't even mount a 4" eye relief scope on it with 2 piece base, can't get it back far enough, going to need a rail.
Other then the ridiculous weight and LOP, it's nice enough, trigger is fantastic, but the manual says not to dry fire it. Took a look at the firing pin and it is one fragile looking POS so I can see why.
There is good stuff about it...but the bad seems to outweigh the good by a wide margin lol

It has a lot of features that already make it a hard pass for me but now learning that, I'll be extra sure not to buy one lol.

I'm always interested in novel crf actions, and the magazine system appealed to me a lot. It was sadly underwhelming when I handled it. If money was no option I would take one for a spin, but at this point I'd rather spend my cash elsewhere
