CZ 600 thoughts?

^^^ those that hunt with the 557 will tell you it needs nothing, but, perhaps, a bedding job. Mine are flawless out of the box, with nice bluing and wood. They aren't loaded with gimmicks, but they work well and shoot well. The Range rifle is highly regarded, as is the Lux. The 550 was crude in comparison--I have owned Brno 21's, ZG-47's, a 600, 602, and several 550's. Yes, the 557 is excellent. There's nothing to improve upon except for a 3-position safety and slimmer stock option.

When did 550s become crude? 6-7 years ago they represented a great deal in CRF classic styled rifles

CZ didn’t even like the 557 lol, how many years did it last? I’m sure they are well made like every other CZ/BRNO product but for me they don’t stand out from the crowd YMMV I have never shot one and probably never will

Like I said earlier, I think they are great. A company needs to adapt to stay relevant in the market today. Look at Remington and Marlin for example.

The Alpha is available in many different calibers and has a factory trigger that is easily adjustable. That alone is a great feature. The only thing that I would change is to make this available with a wood stock.

The Range looks like another winner. Right now it's only available in 308, but if it were also available in 6.5 Creedmoor , I think they would sell pretty well.

I do think the Ergo has an ugly stock, but still comes with the adjustable trigger as well as multiple calibers.

The Lux is the traditional CZ Rifle. I do think it should be made available in other calibers, but I suppose that takes the market away from the Alpha.

Finally, there is the Trail. I'm not a fan of the stock on it. I do believe a better choice would have been to go with a picatinny rail that would give people an option to use pistol style braces or AR stocks.

Overall, I do think each model hits a niche in the market.

CZ with no production Safari rifles is the real end of an era.

“Working grade” options are thin on the ground with the Zastava drought. Maybe we are returning to an era where they don’t exist off the shelf

Hard to tell these days with prices of imports all over the place but the priciest plain CZs at PR are close to the cost of a win model 70 safari. Not what I remember but that’s not saying much

For the less vanilla calibers the ship has left the harbour for “ cheap” guns

Looked at a unique alpine the other day. Pretty damn cool, shares the 60 degree throw and CRF but has a fixed extractor. Seems like a better “ solution” to marrying the 60 degree 3 lug and CRF. Would like to see a side by side comparison of both actions

Unique alpine is very strange deal - the action is very well thought through, but stocks and model features are very questionable from what I've seen.

Wood and laminate stocks seemed fine but not in the class of most rifles in the price range, money is in the action I guess. Magazine system is AICS and I think they are all short action, heavy guns

Just grabbed a 7.62x39 527 carbine in a synthetic stock.. Should be a good companion to my 557 Ranger. I'm an iron sights type of a guy so better buy it now while still available.. I also ordered a couple of mags through A-importer, they have them listed in stock.

I grabbed two more, a 527 wood and a night sky 308 10 round magazine like the ranger

Ya I think they look disappointing. Like what now distinguishes these rifles from any other cheap hunting rifle? The entire reason I liked CZ rifles was the Blued finish, old school build quality, and metal magazines. Now it's plastic magazines, and some mat black/grey finish. Like why should I now buy this over a model 70. Cheaping out to make a bit more money and they've lost me on this series, I'll wait to see if they change , or for the next line. But most likely I'll stick to the old lines.

I honestly don't like what they are doing to their lineup.

couldnt agree more
