Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I recently acquired a CZ 600 Trail in .223.

Like others before me, I had issues with the OEM skeleton stock. The cheek riser is pathetic and there is movement left, right, up and down with the stock in any of the preset positions. The rear QD sling stud is placed at the end of the stock near the butt pad and I don’t trust that lugging this rifle around when extended won’t further stress/weaken an already sloppy fit.

I decided to find an alternative solution and thought I’d post my findings so far to help anyone else on this road. The examples I could find on internet were fairly few and far between.

First I tried the GL stock riser from FAB Defense. This allows for a good cheek weld with 3 adjustable heights and a longer footprint than the OEM. It is ambidextrous.
It clips over the skeleton stock rails in a minute or two, but requires an Allen key for install. The stock cannot be fully locked closed with the cheek riser in place (without perhaps some modification to the riser) but can be collapsed to the shortest position.

However I still wasn’t satisfied with the stock wobble and wanted this to be as compact as possible when stored.

Then I tried the Picatinny stock adapter from G-Ten. A simple install that removes the original skeleton stock, lock and release button, all of which can be reinstalled at any time. The adapter is a nice tight fit and adds ~ 1” to the length, including the rail.

I was hoping to use a buffer tube style stock and purchased a Midwest folding unit with tube/folding pic adapter all as one unit. I figured this would save me some length, provide a cleaner look and have less parts involved so ultimately be stronger.
Unfortunately while very sturdy this thing is almost ‘too’ compact and the buffer tube catches on the adapter when folded, thanks to the fairly fat, flat rear end of the trail.

This is a shame as this was my preferred route 🤷

Finally, following insight from another thread, I ordered a SIG style folding aluminium stock with 3 cheek risers from an airsoft supply. This thing is much lower profile and very light. Not as heavy duty as the Midwest unit but 100g lighter and still feels very sturdy.
There is no wiggle when extended and feels a huge improvement over the OEM.
It folds very nicely with good clearance to the receiver/adapter

Including the G-Ten adapter, the stock, cheek riser and folding Picatinny mech, this setup is around 50g lighter than the OEM skeleton stock at ~ 340g. LOP is 13”..

I would still like to try a buffer style adapter. Perhaps a standard Picatinny-buffer adapter then add a folding buffer adapter, then my buffer tube. This ensemble might give me enough clearance before the folding mech to allow it to fold somewhat flush, but I feel like I’m chasing rabbits. 🐇

Would be interested to see/hear others experiences and solutions..

Did you order the g ten adapter right from them?

Hi yes, direct from g ten. Very quick shipping and great customer service. Was stung with a customs charge though.

Would be nice to see some Canadian made parts more available - I’m sure even a 3D printed adapter similar to the G ten unit would work. An ambi cheek riser for the OEM stock would also be nice for lefty’s.

I’d personally like to see an extended/metal safety. I find the OEM stiff and not particularly ergonomic.

PR precision has made stock adapter(famae) for me before.

I was curious if anyone got their hands on one of these yet. I find most picatinny stocks just plain ugly, even if they might be more practical.

What was your source for the stock?
