Hi everyone,

I have been considering a new semi waterfowl gun. In past years I have owned a A500g and currently beretta es100. I am an avid waterfowler and I hunt in extreme conditions; a salt water environment and sub zero temps. The problems I have encountered with the es100 are slow-cycling in cold conditions, or non-cycling which I believe is due to the weak spring in the stock of the Benelli action.

The bolt return spring in the stock, I believe, is a poor design in any waterfowl gun. Once it starts to rust, you have to continually clean it in order for it to function.

I like the idea of the bolt return spring under the forearm, for ease of cleaning. I believe the gas system has a stronger bolt return spring that cycles shells better in severe conditions.

This gun... the cz712als... seems to have everything I am looking for, including an adjustable stock, but the price makes me question the quality and reliability.

Does anyone have any comments or insights about this gun?

I was considering the CZ offering myself. Everywhere I have found them in Canada, the list prices is well over MSRP. If you go to the Huglu forum on shotgunworld you will find plenty of people who love this gun. It's made in Turkey by Huglu.

Hate to resurrect an old post, but has anyone even seen an ALS for sale in Canada? It's hard enough to find to find a base 712, much less a dressed up model.
