Hey folks,

I have a Kadet kit for my Shadow. When in Kadet mode, the slide won't stay back on an empty mag. After considerable investigation, I've determined the problem to be a slight stickyness of the follower in the .22 mag.

After finally dissasembling the mag (a few gentle knocks later), I tried cleaning it well and using normal gun oil (hoppes kit stuff), I've tried smoothing the riding edges a bit and I've tried some white lithium grease to see if it would travel those last mm smoother to engage the lock.

Does anybody know of a better product to use between plastic and metal to smooth it out. I think it's almost there, but the since the follower has to push the lock up only at the front of the mag, the pressure is a bit uneven and causes that slight sticking.

Other than that, the mag seems to feed just fine. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem with mine. Some models require a different slide stop if your gun is 40 cal that may be your issue the slide stop is slightly differnt then the 9mm, which the kadet kit was designed on. That is what I was told after all my problems. Al Simmons here in Hamilton said they would order me a new slide stop but that was 6 months ago. I will never go back there. Never did fix the problem, but I found if I was shooting off a bench and had pressure on the bottom of the mag when shooting the slide would lock back. I said F it and sold it for a new rifle from Ellwood Epps. I know they got the better bargain but I was sick of the issues and started reloading 9mm anyway.

Incidentally, I additionally tried some graphite stuff and some silicone stuff. None of these helped. The follower seems to ride the smoothest with normal gun oil or better yet, completely cleaned!

Perhaps the slide lock spring will loose its 'new gun' tension and relax slightly once I start putting some more rounds through it.

Thanks for replies.
