CZ-75 Kadet

I recently bought a Kadet kit for my CZ 85 combat. On my first outing I put about 100 rounds through it with no feed, fire or eject malfunctions. The only issue is the slide will not hold open on the empty magazine. Unfortunately I called CZ-US to see what can be done and all they succeed in doing was irritating me. They could not have been more disinterested in me, their customer or their product.

The Kadet kit on my CZ75B locks open on empty as you would expect. Dlask is apparently the Canadian warranty center now.

Love mine. Looked for 3-4 months also. The trick is go thru EE often and jump on it if you see one! I paid 575 used and it came with 4 mags which are supposedly hard to get (but I saw them at wholesale sports on the rack in the isle), great deal. It is SUPER accurate!! I mounted it on my CZ-75b with no modification required (no mods by previous owner either). On my first outing I put a 525 federal bulk pack thru it flawlessly. And then another 300-400 before I began having stovepipes every 2nd mag. -Cleaned and cured. It matches the weight of an empty CZ-75, but when loaded is slightly lighter than a loaded CZ-75. The sights are adjustable which is great because with mini-mags you can dial it in 1-2 clicks. Not he best trainer for drills, (due to the "strip" slide) but if you run a CZ, it's the absolute BEST shooting trainer. Mags are easy to load by hand, but I never waste time with mag loaders anyways. When I run a lighter mainspring I get a few light strikes here and there, so I just have to put the stock spring back in and suffer the stock trigger pull. -boo hoo. And it only takes about 10 minutes to get used to the "strip" slide. -well boo hoo, because that small slide's light weight is why it runs so reliably. I Feed it CCI blazer. I've used federals, dirty bird, mini-mags, thunderbolts, peters. Most issues with federals. Peters are too dirty for me but run well. The federals cause the odd problem probably due to weak charges. Thunderbolts are great. The bird works actually but again too dirty. I found that the Mini-mags are deadly accurate. One thing to note is that the last round hold open function of the slide stop does NOT like to be dirty. It came with a "kadet" marked slide-stop, but I found both slide-stops both function equally not-so-good but I think it is due to the mags, possibly just one of mine specifically. All in all it's worth every GD penny I spent! And probably even more. If you pick one up you will NOT be disappointed. Hope this helps.

Have you fitted your Kadet kit? What kind of slide stop do you use (there are two kind of slide stops)?

I hope I am not guilty of hijacking the original thread but here is my update.
I am using the slide stop that came with the original CZ 85 9mm. As far as I know that is the only slide stop CZ makes for the ambidextrous CZ 85 controls.
I have played home gunsmith on the Kadet conversion kit and have the empty magazine slide lock back function working when I rack the slide. This is considerable progress but I have not had a chance to shoot the gun and confirm it is functioning when firing live ammunition. I believe my issue came down to weak magazine springs. I dismantled my magazines and hand stretched the springs to increase the force behind the magazine follower. On an empty magazine it is the magazine follower that trips the slide lock back. If the magazine spring is too weak the slide lock back is not positively engaged. Hope to get out next week and test fire the gun at the range.

kadet kit. where can I get the conversion for a cz 75 or cz85

Where can I buy a kadet kit for cz75 or 85? I would love to be able to fire both .22lr and 9mm with a quick conversion. I havnt bought the gun yet as I want to make sure I can get the conversion kit before I settle for the cz. Do I have to buy a cz75 or a cz 85 to be able to use the kadet kit. What is the difference between the 2 guns?

Wolverine carries them but they're sold out. Yes, you have to buy a fullsize CZ 75 (could be an SP-01 type) if you just have the kit. The difference between the 75 and 85 is ambidextrous controls on the 85.

Correct, Kadet slide stop won't fit 85Combat due to differences in design.
One thing you can try if comfortable doing it yourself - bend slide stop spring upward a tiny bit to reduce tension on slide stop, thus allowing Kadet's mag spring to overcome the tension and to lift slide stop up.
Make sure there is no free play when SS is installed and no mag inserted or slide may lock back on full or partially full mag.

Somebody scored a kadet kit a couple week ago on the EE with a bunch of extra mags(4 I believe) for $250!
Best deal I've seen in a while....

I hadn't shot mine in a while and was considering selling it. Took it to the range just before Christmas...it isn't going anywhere. Such an excellent pistol.
