CZ-75 mag failure?

I took my CZ-75 out to the range the other day. It worked great, except.....
The last round in both mags didn't load. It would dry fire on the last round.

Do a tap rack, Tabernach and it would fire. I figure the last round in both mags was stuck and didn't load until after the pistol was racked again.

Is this common? Do the springs just need to loosen up a bit in the mags? Any suggestions?

Thanks

I have a CZ 75 9mm and I never had this problem.

Maybe the ammo you use ?? Do you try with different kind of ammo ?

Pinned CZ's

The spacer they put in the bottom to make it Canada-friendly means that they cut the spring. It has to be just right to work, and I know of one person with a IPSC Sport (.40) who must fiddle from time to time to get the right tension. CZ isn't very helpful I don't think, since they can't see why anyone would want to restrict their Mags! Are there after-market mags for these? I have a SP-01 WAITING for me to pick up: has anyone seen similar in those yet?

I used Eagle 147 grain 9mm, Winchester law enforcement 147 grain and UMC 147 grain. All three failed to feed the last round.

Both mags were brand new. I suspect once the tension loosens a bit on the springs that this problem will disapear.

On a side note the S&W 5946 mags will fit and work although they don't lock in properly. I tested it out just for laughs. The problem of course is that the mag could fall down at any moment since it's not locked in. Otherwise it fit fairly well.

I never had a problem with OEM magazines. The only other mag I have tried are K-Mags made in South Africa. Still no problems. How old are the springs in your mags?

One old problem, largely corrected with the new polymer or cast baseplates, is bent corners on the sheetmetal baseplate. Dropping the mag on concrete causes the corners to peen up and can make contact with the bottom of the grip.

Do a search on this topic, I think CGN member Omen used to have problems with CZ mags not loading the last round.

Had a similar situation with Beretta, ended up the slide was riding against my thumb... thumb a little lower, round fed. Not had such an issue with the SP01 but then it also had that little contour on it for thumb to rest.

Only one problem with that is that the newer mags (with the Poly Base) are factory made w/o cutting springs as there are a couple states that limit ammo caps to civilians (California comes to mind instantly). So the demand is there in the US for 10 round factories. MecGar are the best CZ mags I've ever used, and yes all of them are in .40 and %@#$! 10 rounders...
