CZ 75 mainspring replacement help please

I tried hammer up and hammer down. Nothing worked until I removed the mag brake first. Even then it was very tight. I'm thinking the tolerances are not supposed to be that tight. Do they sell aftermarket plugs?

OK, should move easily without binding. Check for burrs, etc. Polish up with fine emory or whatever you have on hand.

Look for rub marks that indicate contact points. Instead of emery cloth I'd suggest a bit of stoning on the marks. It's very likely that you only need a skiff taken off the high points to allow it to slide easily.

Here are a couple pics of the brake and plug, one of each side:

Ok, the videos that were posted above do not show this style of brake. In the 75B it is actually a mag brake, it's intended to stop or slow the mag down during ejection of the mag. In the Shadows and similar guns, it's there to protect the mainspring. That's why you had troubles, the one in the videos is a much more flexible piece of metal and much lighter as well, with a curled end that goes down into the mainspring plug's body. The brake you have needs the pin removed first, maybe some pressure on the plug, and then it should simply slide or twist out (the end held in with the pin should pop into the body of the gun when the pin is removed. It stops the plug from coming out if you only take the one pin out that holds the plug in place.
If your mag is scraping against the brake now, when it's all put back together, you need a new brake, as you've probably kinked it or something. But in the pics it looks fine. Some of us, for no real reason, swap to stainless steel mag brakes (they aren't necessary at all). They are cheap regardless.
Sorry for sounding like a ####, trying to be quick and concise with my answers when typing on my phone. Now I am at a keyboard and can be much more verbose.

Thank you Slavex, that explains the difficulty I had. I wrongly assumed all CZ 75s would be the same for disassembly. It seems ok now that I took it apart again. I think I must not have had the plug lined up properly before and it was binding a little.

That is super common dude, I've had issues putting the pin back in for the mag brake, of course sometimes I think that might have been a sleep deprivation issue...
I find it very strange that they are cocking the hammer in the video, while I've only worked on a few CZ's of that type, cocking the hammer compresses the hammer spring which makes taking the plug out even harder as there is more pressure on it from the spring.
