Being new to the whole CZ 75 line of pistols, I would like to hear peoples' thoughts between these two pistols?
The obvious difference is the extended dust cover and rail, and the extra 6 ounces on the front end of the pistol, but I would like to see which model is more popular and why?

I Personally like the sp01. The added weight from the rail helps reduce the recoil marginally. It also looks better IMO. Mechanically I think they're the same. Pretty sure there's no firing pin block in the 75 sL and definitely no fpb in the sp01. The sp01 is for sure the most popular as it's become an ipsc favorite.

It used to be that sp01 was IPSC centric , just 75 - IDPA centric.
Now with IDPA weight limit changed, it's probably more personal choice based.
But I believe that SP-01 are more common.

SP-01 was legal in stock service pistol with the right modifications. It could make weight even when it was 39oz limit

Both SP01 Shadowline and 75 Shadowline are almost identical except for the rail and overall weight. Both no FP Block with SP01's rail as added weight somewhat softens the recoil. Both does not need any trigger mod, maybe just mainspring and recoil spring swap by virtue of preference and load choice. I just got my SP01 Shadowline and overall impression: Very Good Win-win for either pistol. Check the grip before you buy.

Ambishooter - What do you mean by checking the grip before you buy? Is this because of the thin Aluminum grips on the Shadow Line?

What I mean is check the grip if it fits your hand. Some prefer a thicker grip similar to a Beretta 92 series. My CZ85C grip is between the size of a 1911 and a B 92 series. The SP01 Shadowline grip feels a little thinner than the regular SP01 Shadow because of the aluminum grip panels plus a front and rear checkering. Regular CZ 75/85 grip panels feels bulkier plastic or rubber so as the rubber grip panel on the original SP01 Shadow. regular CZ 75/85C has no grip checkering. Not sure though on the CZ75 Shadowline.

One thing I wasn't aware of was, that the SP-01 Shadow Line has front and rear grip checkering but the 75 Shadow Line does not......
I wonder why CZ didn't make them the same? I have smallish hands, so the aluminum grips work great for me!

Notice the smooth grip profile on CZ 75 Shadowline. The SP01 Shadowline has a somewhat small checkering from and rear of the grip. Maybe not as pretty as a full checkered high-end 1911 but it provides added grip without adding grip tape..
