CZ 75 Shadow Line

It really picks me that people keep thinking they should be putting stainless guide rods in their shadows because when you have a hard metal (such as stainless) and a soft metal then the softer metal will always wear out faster!!! That softer metal part is your barrel guys!! I know those plastic guide rods look really ugly but all they have to do is allow the spring to compress instead of bend and it does spin a wee bit during each compression. CZ actually knew what they where doing when they put that ugly piece of plastic in your gun. I have over 25 000 rounds threw my Shadow and that ugly plastic is finally starting to show a little wear and I've ordered another one for $3. Would you rather be buying a new numbered barrel when the hard titt of your stainless guide rod chewed away your barrel??? I'd think not....leave well enough alone.

Now if CZ would make mags that don't fall apart after hitting cement to many times we'd really have something to brag about.

they do make them, they are called regular capacity mags

I think they would love you to buy a new barrel or gun more often.. everything is made to fail or wear faster... keeps the economy going.

Thats why I am going to do what you suggest.. and get the polymer guide rod.

The stainless guide rod doesn't wear on the barrel and cz does provide one on the higher competition shadow models. The reason the regular shadow comes with a plastic one is to keep the cost down and nothing more.

If you shoot a Shadow, I don't think it will change much but on a plastic gun, you should notice more.

I shot a Shadow for 3 years with the polymer guide rod, there was no trace of wearing on it and no burned plastic melt on the barrel ;)
 
If anyone thinks they are good enough shooters to see any difference in their scores using SS guide rods vs the polymer rods they are just kidding themselves. There is more to IPSC/IDPA scoring then the marginal effects the tungsten rods have on recoil. But then PT Barnum summed it pretty good....
 
I got a bit over 65K on my Shadow and see no wear on Delrin guide rod.

Also, tried a couple of SS rods, no affect on accuracy seen. Went back to Delrin and will stay with it.
I do have a 75B SA that came with alloy GR and gonna keep it that way too.

As a few may have noticed, Shadow Accu comes with way different barrel bushing setup - and THAT is most def gonna improve on its accuracy.
Regular Shadows also have a bushing, but it's hidden from a view, sitting inside slide and held in place by front sight retaining pin.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! nice.

I've been looking around for a nice plastic guide rod for my 1911, because I'm concerned about the pistol being too heavy and slowing down my transitions between targets.

And I've been looking around for ways to add weight to my Shadow. Everybody knows It's just too darn light for anyone to win with in stock configuration.
 
EKP Sean Hanson's comments might mean more than mine but given the history Angus Hobdell, CZ USA and the CZ Custom Shop has with Vince Pinto and crowd I doubt it, but stranger things have happened.

My plastic guide rod IS wearing enough I ordered a new one for $3. The titt is starting to wear down enough it looks like it might not stay on the barrel and the outside edges near the titt are looking ragged. I've got about 25 000 rounds of dependable fun through it.
