I have had the opportunity of trying the CZ 85 Combat and i loved it, but i hear a lot about shadow as well.
What is the difference between them? Advantage and disadvantages?
The Shadow is a tad heavier with more weight on the front end due to the full length dustcover. The CZ85 C balances better in my hands. Felt recoil should be less from the Shadow due to it's extra weight. For all practical purposes it is a wash IMHO.
The Shadow comes competition ready with a very good trigger FO front sight and competition rear.
The 85C with a 13# mainspring and a competition hammer installed has just as nice a trigger as the Shadow.
The CZ85C works in IPSC Production and IDPA. You may not be able to install the competition hammer in IPSC - I just don't know.
The Shadow has to get down to 39 oz to play in IDPA due to the full length dustcover. The CZ 85C is good to go.
If you are going to shoot IPSC Production the Shadow probably is a better choice. If you are going to shoot both it will cost you about $90. to get the Shadow down in weight for IDPA but you would be good to go for both sports. The 85C is good to go out of the box in both sports.
To get the trigger on the 85 Combat to be the equal of the Shadow you likely will spend $200 for parts and labour, maybe less.
The 85 Combat has adjustable sights while the Shadows are fixed if that makes a difference. I installed fixed sights on my 85C.
Both are excellent guns and you won't be disappointed in either.
Take Care
