CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Accessories

Hey guys. New to the Forum and I am looking at buying my first pistol for just shooting targets. Was thinking about buying a CZ 75 SP-01. From what I have been reading this is rated as a pretty good pistol. Yes / No ?

There are many threads on the virtues of the SP-01.
Coles notes version: buy it!
Probably the best stock SA trigger in a DA/SA pistol currently on the Canadian market at a reasonble price.
Watch for potential slide stop failure after prolonged shooting.

I have good luck with Mec Gar mags and can't tell them apart from factory while in use.

All great advice so far. My tip is to buy absolutely nothing. Or almost. Get a cheap bdu belt, a decent holster, and some cheap mag pouches. Don't buy a single thing competition-related until you start competing. Then see what everyone else is using for a few matches. Not only will you get exposure to some of the options, you will see what your own requirements actually are. This will save you a bundle.

This sounds like sensible advice - what do you suggest for a holster and pouches?

Yes. There are dozens of threads about the Shadow, and they all say the same thing:

It's a great gun, you should buy one.

I sure like mine.

Wasrupzuk, do you remember where you got your aluminum grips? I'm going to start with the stock rubber grips, but it would be good to have a lead on an alternative...

PD

To be honest I can't remember if it was Wolverine or CFRAM...Quite a few sponsors carry them though- thin aluminum checkered aggressive were the key points when I got mine.

I went with VZ Grips for mine, and I love them. I wasn't happy with the feel of the rubber grips, and this made all the difference. They have textures from smooth to "tactical diamonds" which they suggest you use gloves with. They look amazing too.

Depends on what you want to do, Blade tech had the best selection I've found for this in particular. Drop offset would be good for IPSC. WRS (retention) for 3 gun. Can't go wrong with hsgi tacos for mag pouches.

Couple notes, the shock buffers Dlask sells are indeed the correct ones from CZUB as is the stainless guide rod, both are good things to grab.

Any idea where to find a Bladetech WRS for the Shadow in Canada? I have the Bladetech Drop/Offset for IPSC and like it but want to set up a separate 3-gun belt with a bit more retention but as close as possible.

911 Supply in Calgary had two (one left, one right) WRS thigh rigs for the Shadow when I was in there today.

not to hi-jack the thread but when you guys say the slide stop fails...what exactly does it do? does it break?

Thanks.

PS I just bought a sp-01 shadow too! WOOHOO...I did the 13lb hammer spring...Really reduced the DA pull

typically it breaks in the middle and your guns starts to run like crap. the left side will often fall out and then you need to push the other side out with the new slidestop or a punch.

yeah blows when it happens though as it typically happens in the middle of a stage at an important match.
