Please move if this isn't the right spot, just thought it would catch the most Shadow users.

Just bought a shadow from EE. Seller said it has 700 rounds through it.

When I pull the trigger in DA the hammer will not fall. I can holder the trigger all the way back and hammer remains cocked. When I release the trigger the hammer slowly drops to 1/2 cocked.

When I rack the slide the hammer goes back so it almost touches the beavertail and then slightly forward and stops in the cocked position. In DA the hammer doesn't retract past this "cocked position".

I have only dryfired it but I expect the same results when loaded. I got the same results with an empty brass in the chamber and empty mag inserted. I took the slide off and everything seems tight including mag release spring screw.

I will posted pictures tonight when I get to my computer but hopefully I've been clear enough. Any ideas? Thanks

There's been reports of this behavior before on CGN. Something to do with one of the trigger parts being not quite right. The details are beyond me but I'm sure someone will find the thread.

Simple thing: You have confirmed that it isn't the trigger overtravel screw in the trigger being too far out?

Please leave negative feedback to that seller.

Which screw did you check, you only mention the mag release screw in your post. AdamG is asking about the overtravel screw in the trigger. Make sure it's not sticking out too far of the back of the trigger. Because that's what is causing your problem from it sounds like.

The DA on the CZ is a different set of release items than the SA pull. If you look down in the front of the action you'll see a little foot like thing that runs up a inclined ramp in the lower frame. This cocks the hammer and just before it reaches the rear travel limit a secondary DA sear edge on the trigger yoke is supposed to let the hammer fall.

I had the same issue develop on my own Shadow. Likely the coating on the frame wore away on the ramp from so much DA practice that it was just enough to develop the problem. Once I realized what the issue was I carefully stoned off about .001 to .002 from the sear lip and all has been well since then.

If this all sounds like black magic then take the gun to a gunsmith for this to be done. It's something you do with a fine or extra fine stone. It's NOT a job for a Dremel which will remove too much in the blink of an eye.

I get that Dremel with grinding attachment would take off lots.... do you have an opinion on dremel with felt "windmill" and polishing compound, for just polishing internals in general?
