Hi all, has anyone had any experience with this pistol. I am thinking seriously of getting a 9mm for bullseye, I already shoot 38 and 22, However the choices for a target 9mm are limited (unless you have 3 to 4 grand to throw around !!) Am looking at the STI lineup, as well as a few other 1911 platforms, but I thought I would broaden my search by looking at CZs. Their write-ups are very good, but I am looking for owner-shooter inputs.

I don't shoot mine in competition and I have never shot a tuned 1911.. but I really do love my Sp-01 Shadow.

The trigger is fantastic, the balance of the gun is fantastic, the reliability is fantastic. I doubt that I will ever be better than the accuracy of it.

For the money, not sure you will find its equal. I'm pretty sure that is why its so common among the IPSC group.

I shot the 75 Shadow last summer. Excellent gun, very accurate with trigger pull identical to the SP-01 Shadow. As nice as the SA pull is not quite as good as my STI Trojan in 9MM. For bullseye shooting I would go with the STI Trojan. The Trojan, like the 75 Shadow, is extremely accurate with modest recoil.

my shadow will not hold better than 6cm @ 25yds ,out of a ransom, it's a great gun for action shooting or a beginner target. i've a built para 9 that holds 3.1 [ 1.25" ] ,9 is not your best choice for bullseye. if your shooting isu ,32 is the best way to go ,& it's just good enough for nra @ 50yds [ on a not too windy day ]. which 38 are you shooting?

My Shadow will be in this week, I have read some reports on the I.S.P.C. guys loving there shadows, can't get much better endorsement than that.

Well the Shadow is popular because of the 5# minimum trigger pull first shot for Production Division with no minimum for subsequent shots. The gun has excellent combat accuracy and certianly is more than sufficient for IPSC shooting but for Bullseye I would want something more capable IMHO.

I'm tickled with both my CZ's. But for strictly bullseye I would look long and hard at other options. They are service pistols first and foremost and so there's limits in how tightly they can be set up and accurizing components to achieve truly good bullseye results. Many of the things that are taken for granted in setting up a 1911 are not even options for the CZ line. Items such as match grade barrels that can be fitted to the slide for the least possible play and truly consistent lockup.

All in all for a pure bullseye gun I think you'd have more luck with a 1911 project gun. There's much more available in terms of match barrels, oversize bushings that can be custom fitted and other accurizing tricks. None of that stuff is available for many other service style semi automatics.

I've shot CZs before and they are an impressive service pistol. As others have mentioned, very good combat accuracy. But if you are truly shooting bullseye, that is NRA conventional pistol, get an accurized 1911 in .45 ACP. It can be used for the centerfire and .45 portions of the match. If you want to shoot ISSF, then a .32 S&W Long or .38 Special designed for wadcutters only is the way to go. Either way it's going to cost a bit.
