CZ 75 SP01 or Glock 17?

I started with a G17 then switched to a CZ75BD then to the SP-01 with the standard safety. The Glock did not fit my hand very well and I did not like the recoil characteristics of the Glock. The SP-01 sits comfortably in my hand and the SP-01 is a heavy gun so recoil feels light. On the down side (for me) I find the trigger reset a little long on the SP-01. As for accuracy, I found the CZ to be a little better than the Glock. Overall I am very happy with CZ. Shoot both if you can and decide for yourself.

X2..I have the CZ Shadow, so the trigger reset is much better than the SP-01, go with the CZ, you will not be dissapointed! Cheers!

The SP-01 is possibly the best 9mm combat pistol released in the last 10 years. I have no doubt that it is the best 9mm I own - better than everything from my H&K P7M8 to Glocks to Sig 226.

Funny, I don't recall using the word 'tactical' in any of my posts. If Glocks are to be dismissed so readily, why do so many other firms attempt to copy their products? By the way, nobody torture tests their handguns like Glock (due to being afraid of the results). My last post on the subject folks. I know I won't change any (closed) minds. To the enlightened, buy one and you won't be sorry.

CZ design is the most copied design. Google it.

Glocks have its market. CZ has its own.

Which one is more accurate and easier to shoot well?
CZ! Even Glock hardcore fans will admit that.

If we could carry in Kanakistan, I'd buy Glock.

A first pistol is like a first fishing rod. Get one that will be inexpensive, fun, reliable, functional and forgiving.

Own a CZ and a Glock, or just own a Glock. Glock should be first into your collection, last out.

And yet if you look at what Production shooters are using to win in the US USPSA , you will find that CZ is a favourite.

You should decide what you want to do with it.
Plink? Compete in IPSC? Compete in IDPA?
How does the gun fit you? How comfortable are you with hand guns?

A guy on the CZ team in the US said that after 17,000 rounds, the gun was just nicely broken in.
Do you know of anyone ever needing to have the slide to frame fit tightened? Seriously, I'm curious.
It's a new one to me.

Try both guns and see wich one YOU like the best.

I shot my first IPSC match, in France, with a borrowed CZ75 and come 1st in class and second overall. I picked up the gun the night before and dry fired it.

I shot the IDPA nationals with Mathew Mink, CZ sponsored shooter, he came first in ESP shooting a CZ.

I think the CZ is very good generic starter gun. Good Quality, decent trigger, lots of after market parts, nice look and robust. A pistol has to fit your hand!!! I found the trigger pull a little long. The CZ is too big for my hands and SIG I find too small. I'm still looking for the right one. Those who do not have a shop near by may have to buy and sell several to find the perfect one.

Matthew Mink came in 1st 'Master' in ESP. The Division was won (by almost 12 seconds) by Donnie Burton. ( http://www.idpa.com/matchresults/2007_nationals/IDPAHTML/09-26-07.htm ) I don't recall what Donnie used for a gun but I'm quite sure it was neither a CZ or Glock.

Glock; no contest. CZ 'platforms' are used by zero law enforcement agencies compared to the Glock. All you need to know.

You have never been to Europe aren't you?
CZs are everywhere out there.

just a quote from CZ website (Europe):
Friday, 12th October was quite a jubilee day in Česká zbrojoka a.s., Uherský Brod as on this very day in festive atmosphere the millionth piece of, now already legendary, CZ 75 pistol, was assembled.

The CZ 75 D Compact pistol having Serial No. 999 999 has been assembled by Mr. Bronislav Fuksa, Zlín Region Councillor. This very handgun will be displayed at the Police Museum of the Czech Republic in Prague. Millionth piece – the CZ 75 B, which was assembled by the Minister of Interior of the Czech Republic, Mr. Ivan Langer, is to be featured as a special item at the Hall of Fame of this firearms company located in the town of Uherský Brod. The General Manager of CZUB, Mr. Lubomír Kovařík assembled piece with the Serial No. 1 000 001, this particular model was again the CZ 75 B. This handgun will be exhibited in a new retail store of Česká zbrojovka in Prague.

Both pistols are great, just depend on what you like the best
There is no such thing as the ultimate pistol

I've fired both, my Dad service pistol is a Glock 17. I personnaly love my CZ more, but it's a personnal thing. I still consider the glock as an awesome pistol, but just not for me

Accuracy is a direct function of the operator, not the equipment.

That's what I said - 1st Master ESP.

I believe that Donnie used a 1911 style.

Re-read your post Pete. You said he came in 1st in ESP; which implies he won the Division. He didn't. You also didn't mention the 'class'.....again implying he was 1st overall for the match.

I've been shooting a Glock 22 for the past couple of years in IPSC. Monday I tried the CZ-SPO1 Shawdow and I could not believe how much better the CZ was compared to the glock.

Glocks = Reliability (10,000 rounds with no failures); decent accuracy
CZ = very accurate

I'm now looking at buying a CZ as my new IPSC gun
