CZ-75 SP01 Shadow - Wait! Not a Shadow

Weird scenario on the go.

Placed an order for a CZ-75 SP01 Shadow. Very excited for my first CZ pistol. Off to the post office for the pick up, came home and opened the box. I noticed the box was labeled CZ-75 SP01. I didn't think anything of it until I noticed a set of night sights front and rear and no Shadow markings on the slide.

Shall I call the dealer and ask for a refund or exchange?

Yes, do ask for an exchange or refund. SP01 is not the same as SP01 Shadow.

The SP01 Shadow comes with the following enhancements over the standard SP01:

  • enhanced trigger (no firing pin block)
  • extended ambidextrous safeties
  • extended magazine release
  • fiber optic front sight
  • competition rear sight (taller)
 
What model does the original order receipt from the dealer specify? As nice as the SP-01 is, given a choice I would definitely want the Shadow. Great sights and trigger without the firing pin block.
 
I ran into this issue when I had my SP01. Everybody assumed it was a Shadow. I expect this is what happened. They look quite similar and just assumed it was a Shadow.
 
If they advertised it as a Shadow, and your receipt says it's a Shadow... they owe you a Shadow. What a pain in the ass to have to deal with, especially now that transfers are taking so long. I'd say they owe you a $200 credit on top of it for how much time that wasted. Also would be interested to know what the price difference between them is and if you paid a premium for a lower end product... but it's hard to say what anything is actually worth anymore now that prices keep going up.

They have been great so far. I don't want to throw them under the bus as im sure they are learning from the mistake. If you are looking for a Shadow in the Ottawa area please just have the dealer place their eyes and hands on the box first!
 
I wonder if you paid the premium for a shadow or not? Either way it kinda sucks, but if you only paid the price of a standard sp01 then at least you're not getting totally screwed?...
 
I paid $1326.00 for a Shadow. I can't locate a regular SP-01 in Canada but state side I've found them for $699-$749 USD. They have offered a refund but reaching the CFO for a return transfer is going to be a nightmare. Going to attempt a return transfer in the morning.

Let's tie this post off. The dealer is doing their best in a strange time. It will work out.

Just FYI, the dealer should be able to do the entire transfer on their end through the business portal.
