CZ 75 vs. CZ 85?

At my shooting club and IPSC, new Glocks, Sigs, 1911's, XD's, M&P's have all had FTF's and malfunctions. I've shot 10,000 rounds roughly out of my 75b and have yet to experience a malfunction of any type. This makes the CZ75 one of the best pistols in the world.

I'm surprised that I saw a newish Glock jam before my 75b did.
No wonder CZ advertises this as the most widely used pistol.

I was surprised to have ejection problems with a brand new SP-01. No wonder I don't buy much into corporate advertising. :p

They come with pretty stiff recoil springs. Mine is now tossing them with gusto. The first 100 rounds just cleared the slide.

Forget corporate advertising the Shadow is the winnigest pistol in IPSC right now and has been for a few years. I might suggest IPSC Production shooters shoot more in a year then most LEO's do in a couple of lifetimes.

The 75B is the standard most pistols are often compared.

Take Care

My Shadow did the same thing for the first couple of hundred rounds. The casings pretty much dribbled out onto my wrist before rolling onto the floor.

THings improved after that but it was still a bit lazy. Then after cleaning the gun at 500 rounds it was throwing them out with gusto and it never looked back. It may well have been the recoil spring but mostly I suspect it was just the slide lapping itself to the frame and then when I cleaned out the grunge she was good to go.

I have a CZ 85B and pair of Beretta 92fs's. I like em all, the CZ is way more accurate simply because of its sights I must say, that tight sight picture. But the Berettas will never jam no matter what kind of raw lead cheap ammo I put through them .. That being said, I was gonna sell my CZ 85 to get a Norinco M4, but now I probably will just get the money some other way, it's just too tight a pistol, so accurate. As a poor ass student, I got a Beretta 92 and a CZ 85 B from someone who got repo'd for $ 1000, both were mint condition. Good deal, much to my girlfriends dismay.. She just didn't understand firearms and their value.

CZ75 is great handgun, it points naturally but it seems to have a longer trigger reset. I have found that in very rapid fire it can be a tiny bit slower than some other guns because of the reset. This may be a concern in some types of competative shooting events. I don't shoot competition so it doesn't matter to me, but if I did, it would add a few hundreds of a second to your time in a course of fire...some people may find that unacceptable. I don't know if trigger work can correct this or not.

CZ75 is great in every other way as others have already mentioned and prices are also excellent for them. You can't go wrong with one.

I have 2 cz 85's, one an older pre B and a new combat. Just starting out in IPSC and look forward to shooting them. I think the older one has a better trigger(IMHO) but maybe just more broken in. In my black badge course of about 10 people, there were 5 cz's; mine. a 75 and 3 sp-01s. All liked their choices.

Cheers

I am a big Norinco fan and have the NZ85, with a new hammer spring, it's a delight to shoot. The problem with the Nork clones vs the real CZ is that the price point differance precludes doing any upgrades to the Nork. the nork sights are the main downside of the gun, their not bad, but they are not great. But putting a new set of sights on pushes the value of the gun almost to the same level as buying the CZ. That being said the Nork design is a little stronger than the regular CZ, the slide on the 9mm is slightly taller than the CZ as well.

Stovepipes in Shadow

Actually I've been having a lot (read: 1 every 50 or 60 rounds) stovepipes out of my SP-01 Shadow (new, only about 1000 rounds through it) which otherwise is a delight to shoot. It's really aggrevating and I'm trying to find out what to do about it. Anybody else have a problem and if so, does a new extractor fix it?
