Hi all
I was just looking in the EE for things I don't really need of course and found a CZ75 for sale.
The add says that it is an original CZ75 w/no prefixes 9mm and purchased in 1987. The asking price is $1425.00. Can anyone tell me why this particular pistol demands such a high price tag?
Thanks
Ron
FYI I own one just like it.

Because its the EE.
You can always try....

So in short its an asking price.

dont know much about collectors values but with the large numbers of cz75 produced
i have a hard time seeing this value.

By the way: rants or complains about ee prices is frowned upon here so expect your thread to be locked soon.

The price is overly inflated, but any unfired firearm from the era would demand a higher asking. The only value is in collector value. At an honest spec, it would likely be priced around the same as a new, current production CZ75b, as the collector value really only comes from the vintage and condition....though the pictures aren't all that conclusive. It'll be down to 1k in no time.

I have one too. Bought new 20+ years ago. I was talking to one of the local gun store guy about it and all the sudden he asked if I was interested in selling it. We didn't get to price. I was thinking he would throw like $500 at me. Even at $1425, I don't think I would sell it. Its a nice gun and I can't get another one :)

Just me, not really interested in selling anything I have at this time.

dealers are just getting in a bunch of police trade in 85s right now for like 500-600. i would get one of them before i over spend on the EE

A pre-B CZ 75 has the best trigger out of the box. With only few concerns like a hammer bite, magazine availability (some owners have some luck in current production magazines), lack of parts and a poor finish, $ 1425 is a bit pricey. If you can check current CZ 75 forums, you will see a very common mod using a Pre-B Disconnect into a CZ 75/85. I must admit missing to grab one by few minutes 4 years ago ( $250) with 4 mags, it now boils down to if you really wanted and willing to shell out that much money.

My friend who has a S&W MP shot my pre-b CZ. He likes the trigger way more than his S&W. I lost/misplaced both of the original magazines during a house move so I was panicking to find mags for it. I bought 75B magas but wont fit. Finally I found CZ (pre-b) 10 round magazines at Cabelas. Expensive though $70/each.

A pre-B CZ-75 is generally a $5-600 gun, and I see them routinely listed on the EE for that.

There is a notable exception to that. The seller may believe he has a first run "short rail" CZ-75 ( or think that all pre-B guns are equally desireable). I have only seen one of those listed for sale here ever and I recall it was right around $1400. Those are significant collector's items and may well sell at that price.

The pictures in the ad show a regular Pre-B CZ75. I suppose the unfired condition might add some to its value (although that model is not especially collectible, at least in Canada where they were quite common). I'd say it'd be worth $700ish, maybe? Nothing wrong with starting high, though, in case there's someone who's looking for exactly that pistol and willing to pay for it, as unfired Pre-Bs would be very rare.

I suspect the police trade ins referred to are the Beretta 92S that can be had for $500 - $600.

To the OP aside from the disconnector there really is nothing special about a 75 Pre B other than it is old and a 1987 magwell is just a tad thinner tan current production pistols. I t is an easy fix using a Dremel to widen slightly the internal magwell. Some folks collect them but the selling price at $450 - $550 suggests most buy them to shoot and are not prepared to pay much more. A current 75B or 85 Combat is a much better buy used at around $550 - $650 slightly used.

At $549 for a Very Good 85 Combat is a good price for one. I like the version with the fixed rear sight. I had an 1988 version with the round dovetail cut adjustable sight. You could not replace the rear sight so I sold it off. The gun was an excellent shooter but the sights were way to small for experienced eyes.
