I am presently considering the purchase of a CZ 75B as a birthday present to myself.

I am interested in hearing opinions and experiences on whether I should get one in 9mm or 40 cal.

Please feel free to share your thoughts, reasons and experiences.

Many thanks.

If I planned on using it to protect your life then I would lean towards the 40. For IDPA (or CDP) or other shooting where the extra power is not required I would (and have) gone for the 9mm. It costs a little less to shoot and has less recoil. You can also load your own 40s down to a 9mm power level but what would be the point.

All depends what you want to use it for.

So now I read who the poster is custom79. Buy the 9 mm and you will be happy. I'll give you a pail of 9 mm brass to reload.

Excellent choice of gun. If ammo cost is a factor, go with the 9mm; lots of cheap and surplus ammo available, if not, go with the 40. If you reload, the cost shouldn't really be a factor especially if you can get cheap or used brass.

You may want to try a friend's guns in both calibres to see if recoil will be a factor.

Good luck

We will have to get together and you can shoot my CZ75 (kind of busy right now though). But it would not be a real good test since mine is not quite standard. The Bomar rib adds to the weight of the slide/gun so I would guess the recoil would be a little different than a standard model. Also my trigger is not quite standard either. Maybe I can borrow my brother's CZ75 since his is standard but not the B series.
