Hey,

Here's a question. I just bought a brand new CZ 75B in .40 S&W. The gun came with two mags and I ordered an extra three. All five of the mags are 10 rnd "Mecgar" made in Italy.

Are CZ's supposed to come with factory "CZ" mags or did the guy who sold this to me keep the factory mags and give me aftermarket ones?

I'm not a fan of these mecgar mags. When I first loaded them I could barely squeeze seven rounds in them. With some time working them in and a few dented rounds later I can get them to fit 10 but just barely, and they don't fit in the pistol all that nicely with ten in the magazine. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to fire with them yet (I just got them yesterday) so I'm not even sure if they'll work all that well.

Has anyone had any experience with these mags/know if CZ's are supposed to come with factory mags?

Thanks

Shane

My CZ came with mags that didn't have CZ written on them anywhere. The aftermarket mags I've bought for it since then look exactly the same and are cheaper than CZ mags but work 100% so I suspect they may be one and the same as the ones I got with the pistol. The shop that sold me the aftermarket mags and the gun wasn't interested in selling me the more expensive CZ mags but told me these were cheaper and worked just as well, so I definitely don't suspect any kind of scam.

However, all the mags I got were heavily laden in oil (for overseas shipping), so they definitely came from europe, if not from CZ. But anyways, no markings on them.

So I talked to the guy who sold it to me and he said that CZ has gone to Mecgar for their magazines for use in Canada and other places as well. He said it had something to do with CZ not being able to properly pin their factory mags without someone just knocking out a rivet.

I picked up my 40 about two years ago and it came with two Mecgar mags. I never had any issues with them. Also, this past fall I picked up 3 Tanfaglio mags from Freedom Adventure, those also work great.

Lots of companies of using Mec-Gar for their Canadian imports... Sig Sauer also comes to mind. As a side-note, Sig's will only come with one mag (instead of the standard two) in the near future... this of course is in Canada only.
