Cz 85 combat vs shadow

it depends on what you goal is because technically the two are for different audience. shadow is more of a competition game gun even though you can install heavier spring to make it backwards, but I don't think anybody will do that. so with the Factory setup, it's not safe to be used as carry gun(trigger is 3.x lbs).
75b/85b/tactical(not tactical sports) are most of day-to-day carry guns. if you need to carry for the job or just shooting paper target, these are the cheaper options and the trigger can be tuned to match shadow afterwards which will bring the cost to close to shadow

If a trigger job brings the 85 cost close to the shadow cost then i would defineitly go with the shadow right away. I was wondering about that. Sometimes cheaper isn't cheaper.

With trigger job (comp hammer, pre-b disconnect and maybe a new sear), springs and extended firing pin costing around $ 300, you will be better off with a regular Shadow. But for almost $ 1200, the Shadowline version is now out of the question. 2 yrs ago, Shadowline Series is no brainer. But with a downward spiraling loonie, an 85 Combat with a basic spring and firing pin upgrade might be worth considering. For those mechanically capable of doing basic mods for the trigger, a sub $ 800 85C is the way to go. Even a used one is worth a second look. I think a regular shadow now retails around $ 950 + tx.

I found a used 85C for $650 but if i have to put $$$ into it then i'd rather have Shadow.
Then i'd have a gun that's ready to go and i wont have to find parts or possibly a gun smith which i don't have great access to.
I do prefer the look of the Shadow to but that's not to say the 85C hasn't got the look. The one i found has wood grips and is quite a looker.
I think i'll wait to find a used one.The price of a new one is a little high for me. They used to be around $850, which i though was more reasonable.

The secret is you don't HAVE to do anything. The gun as is, will out shoot most on this board. $650 is pretty reasonable for a 85C and the price is not coming down on them anytime soon.

You can improve the Shadow trigger quickly and easily: replace the stock 18lb mainspring with a 13lb mainspring, but before installing, clip one, maybe 2 coils from the spring. I clipped 2 from mine, which now has a DA pull weight of 5.25 lbs, and single action breaks at 2.75lbs.

That sounds very nice! That's my kind of trigger.

He should do the same thing with his 85 Combat as well.

if you have the money for a shadow, get this from CSC instead.....these are demo guns with blemishes, but....no other guns I own/owned can beat the quality to price ratio of these Swiss beauties and I have owned some very expensive guns.
you will not find a better made gun for $1250. my CZs looked sorry next to these swiss "CZs". think colt vs ed brown.
