Just so I am clear about this:

The CZ 85 is the same as a CZ 75 but has an ambidexturous safety and slide release. Correct?

And the grip size is the same as the CZ 75 and it is suitable for smaller hands.
Correct?

Your thoughts on the single action version would be appreciated.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

You are correct that the the CZ 85 is the ambi safety version of the CZ 75.

The grip is not overly large and will probably fit most peoples hands but I wouldn't call it small. I find it a touch small for my oversized hands but grip changes can usually modify fit a little. Hand fit is also a personal thing. If your unsure maybe you can handle one somewhere.

The CZ 85 I'm familiar with is DA/SA. I have a Hungarian FEG that is SA only and requires the mag to be in in order to decock it. Most semi autos require the action to be pulled back in order to chamber a round and this also cocks the hammer. So on my SA gun if I decock the hammer after I've chambered a round, I have to #### it again to begin firing. On my DA gun if I decock the hammer after chambering a round, I can fire the gun without cocking the hammer, although it requires a higher trigger pull. On my DA only gun (Buckmark) the hammer is internal and thus does not allow decocking.
So you have to decide what purpose the gun is for (recreational target, IPSC, CCW, duty, etc.) and if SA or SA/DA is better for this purpose.

New CZ 85 combats come with adjustable sights, and trigger (for overtravel) as well. All of the added stuff to the 85 is well worth it over a stock 75 imho.
The SA/DA trigger pull can be greatly improved with drop in parts from ghostholster.com

Yes beltfed you hit the nail on the head when you said "adjustable sights". I am still looking to find someone who can put an adjustable sight on my CZ85 (for a reasonable cost). I really need an adjustable site on my pre B 85 to make it pinpoint accurate.
There is not a lot of competent pistol tinkering guys in Manitoba.
