CZ 85 slide lock problems

Hi all,
Question for cz people: My CZ85c's slide stop stays back with rounds still in the magazine. It happens on different mags so it is not a bad mag. I load the 9mm to either 1.12 oal or 1.14 oal and does not seem to matter.

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Try some factory rounds. My reloads for my CZ 75B are usually between mid range to max powder charges with an OAL = 1.150. Zero problems.

Same thing happened to mine, there is a small spring inside the frame that tensions down the slide lock. With no mag in place the slide release should spring down on its own under tension. What happens is without the spring tension the recoil flicks the slide lock up with out the mag being empty, this causes a random "lock back situation".
Remove the slide and you will see the long thin wire spring on the inner frame -I believe its on the left if gripping the pistol, it is probably just miss located and needs repositioned.

Thanks for replies guys. I will try some factory loads, but am set up for a lower power factor for IPSC production shooting. I don't think it is the grip as other shooters also had same problem with this gun.

I will also have a good look at the spring your mentioned. It is a part I have never changed and the gun has about 3000 rounds on it. It has had a new left and right slide stops installed in the fall.

Cheers

Have been shooting my CZ85 Combat since May, 09 and know that feeling when your shooting a COF, counting your rounds, only to have the slide lock stay open with ammo still in the mag. Very frustrating!!!
Got in touch with CZ factory and they gave two possible causes, one is the spring and the other is the slide lock itself. Some of the earlier models had too much metal touching the follower in the mags and would keep the slide lock open with rounds still in the mag. My smith shaved of a portion and the problem has been completely solved. Find a later model for comparison to get an idea of how much needs to be taken off (CZ apparantly fixed it four production years ago).
Two of my mags were old versions. Updated the followers they have worked perfectly since. Hope this helps and happy shooting!!!!!
BTW, my PF averages 128 which would approximate IPSC requirements.

Thanks Rottboy.
I also was told to cut back the left slide stop a bit.(not exactly sure what a bit is, but start small and go from there.)

I shoot PF of about 131, just to be safe. I have lighter springs so don't want to shoot too many factory loads as suggested above.

Just as an aside, I am now making loads a little longer,(1.14 vs 1.12). Will this affect the PF?

Cheers

Mr. B, You got the right part! If you do the cutting back, identify exactly what has to be taken off. Do it very slowly. Rack the slide open on an empty mag and observe the portion of the slide stop that touches the follower. Send me a PM if you need a pic.
Length will affect PF slightly but be more concerned with accuracy. Make a few to test first. If accurate you can chrono later. Took me ages to eliminate "keyholing" in my reloads as I mold my own lead heads. Good luck and happy shooting!!!!
