CZ 858-2 Initial Impression from a rifle rook.

Here is the bipod, I tried to get the stock bolt out to put the folding stock on, but the bolt wouldn't budge.

I wouldn't worry about how it looks with the bipod folded, when in the folded position the bipod will not stay locked to the bayonet mount and will just fall off the gun. It only stays locked on the gun when the legs are open.

Sorry, "NaOH" I did try for you.

My bipod stays on when folded in. When folded up the opposite direction it will come off. You may have it on backwards. Also, anyone have an idea how to remove (loosen) the stock nut... mine won't budge either.

Heres a tool I made to get my stock off, it is on there incredibly tight

when cutting the end make sure to taper it the opposite of a normal screwdriver so it bites in otherwise it may strip

Hope it helps

to get the stocl off, go to princess auto or crappy tire and buy an 'easy out'

i had the same problem and broke two screw drivers. the bolt has a large lock washer under it that digs into the stock quite nicely. the easy out is a spiral cut tool that is cut in the 'off' direction. the other end has a 1/2 inch hex. takes alot of twist but it will come off.

Just contact CanAm on this site and he'll ship it to your door for $169 (for 1120 rounds in the wooden crate)

Cheers,

Alex

p.s. Great pics, good info, dammit i hate you.... LOL just kiddin'. I've been delaying the purchase of this gun but i guess as far as "non-restricted ak47 lookalike genuine military firearms" :D go this is a nice toy.

Got around to firing the 858-2 at a local range today. Had a camera on me and took some pics of the aftermath at home.

Dissassembly

First make sure the rifle is unloaded. Turn the safety off and dry fire (this is important) or hold the trigger and release the bolt to snap forward. Put safety on.

At the back of the reciever is a cover pin that needs to be pushed over to the right side of the rifle.

Next push the reciever cover toward the barrel from the back while edging it up. This is where dry firing the rifle comes into play as the Hammer is still back towards the stock preventing the reciever cover to come off - Operating Spring Rod in Hammer.

Pull the cocking handle back until the bolt reaches the stop and lift up. Should come right out while lifting the front first.

Note: Notice the scratches on the Breech block? Forcing the issue without disengaging the firing pin and spring is a pain.

CZ8582_dismantle5.JPG

Disassemble the breech block assembly.

Next push over the handguard pin.

Lift the handguard out of the way.

Notice how dirty everything is after firing about 60 rounds of surplus.

Pull the Piston towards the reciever and lift out along with the spring.

At this point the rifle is "Field Stripped".

Since all the cartridges I fire out of the CZ are surplus I must clean as soon as I get home.

First take all components into bathroom and soak them all in Windex with ammonia. I heard somewhere that this helps neutralize the corrosive effects of the surplus ammo.

Is this wrong? Thoughts on this?

This includes the barrel and the gas port.

After a little soaking in the windex (about five minutes) I spray the components and rifle in boiling water. Giving special attention to the barrel and the gas port.

Next is regular maintenace however you do it. You can see from my goodies what I'll be doing pretty much.

A view of the CZ with my new addition to the family.

I had shot about 50 rounds through my CZ on friday, and cleaned it when I got home. I didn't clean the piston area though, and today I stripped it and found some surface rust. It easily came off with some scotchbrite.

This ammo is really corrosive. never forget to clean as soon as you get home from firing.

DO NOT USE AMMONIA !
Use break free in combo with gun treatment!!!
Ammonium Hydroxide ( aq ammonia) is a highly corrosive base. You cannot neutralize a base with a stronger base, it is chemically impossible.

I found that the gun was cleaner firing with Czech surp. than with Norinco brand ammo. Norinco is for sure WAY diriter!

True, it isn't corrosive but don't assume all the ammo made by norinco is this way. Some batches have proved otherwise. best to clean asap with proper cleaners, NOT (aq Ammonia) !

Wow thanks Norcyaddict762.

My mistake guys - I'm so new to guns (about two months total now) that I swallow whatever anybody that half decently sounds like they know what they are talking about concerning surplus rifles as correct.

My mistake but hey thats what I come to gunnuttz for - the tutaluge.
