I would stay clear of ammonia (aq) as it is actually more corrosive & more basic than the corrosive ammo you are shooting. (aq) ammonia is also known as Ammonium Hydroxide.
You cannot neutralize a base with a stronger base. It is chemically impossible.
Windex works only cause it has more isopropylene alcohol/water solution in it, which dissolves salts. A little ammonia isn't going to damage the rifle and may get some of the crud out of a barrel. Make sure you DRY the barrel totally or yes you can set damage done by the ammonium compounds.

This is what I use: gun treatment spray followed by break free with a bore snake. that will rid your barrel of any salts!
