So.... Not familar with this gun but was on one of the sponsored sites and it says that because this is being made ( new??? ) with a 19 inch barrel that it isn't considered restricted. I really like the look of this firearm. I currently own a Chinese SKS ( which I haven't fired in a while ) so is the CZ858 Tactical-2 similar, and is the advertized price of 699.00 a good price? I currently do not belong to a club to shoot so I would I be able to shoot this firearm in a suitable place in the country considering it isn't restricted? I hope I posting in the correct area, sorry if not.... fairly new to the forum and still trying to navigate around. Thanks in advance for any advice on this firearm.

Best that you start with the FAQ's in the sticky section just above. You will learn just about everything you need to know about the CZ858 there. Then, try the search function.

You are correct, the CZ-858 is non-restricted with its 19" barrel.

Picture taken today of a CZ-858 in its natural habitat, the woods of Canada.

You could try to do a search on CGNs but everyone whos tried never came back to tell us its safe to do so. You're better off doing a search on YouTube.

I like the Vz 58 (Cz 858) because it makes a great Chupacabra defence gun. Although I've never seen a Chupacabra but that must mean the gun its doing its job in keeping the dam invisable bustards away.

The guns not really new other than the NR versions 19inch barrel. Its made from "New" old stock piled cold war era parts. In other words, the parts are "New" never been used but were made 50 years ago.

How plentiful are these? I want one but if theyre not going to disappear anytime soon i can wait. Also this may be a stupid question but are you allowed to hunt with these?

Very plentiful.

Yes, you can hunt with this just like with any other non-restricted rifle. It's not very practical with such a long magazine on it, but they make shorter ones too.

I traded my Mini-14 for this exact model, and am glad I did. I can shoot 100x more for 50% less..

Last May long weekend @ Waiporous in the Kananaskis, I hiked up a huge hill for over an hour. At the top I found huge stumps and a perfect pit to shoot with a safe backdrop. I proceeded to blast off all three rounds I had dragged up the hill as the morning wake-up call to my crew down in the Valley below.

Did you know most people don't like waking up to gunfire? Weird but true.

I am going to change out the grip, because it feels like it was made for Barbies hand.. haha.
Other then that, I love this firearm. I can field strip it in about 10 seconds too.
Just make sure you remove all corrosive ammo deposits and fouling.

Good plinking gun, good practice gun for target shooting on the move. I would like to think it would be an awesome SHTF weapon, light and compact with the folder. Wife likes shooting it, my pal's girlfriend likes shooting it, and I looove shooting it.

I hate how the mag rivets are poorly installed and fall out occasionally, requiring me to re-pin them when I return from the range/hike/shooting trek. Thats always a bugger...

The CZ 858 is prob the best buy under $1000 for NR military style firearm. oops I mean sporting rifle not a bad scary gun

Where do I get such great furniture?

North Eastern Arms handguards.
Ordinary A2 stock (with the NEA stock adapter)
Czech military pistol grip type 358, ordered straight from Czech Republic. Was a huge PITA to get.

All that can be bought from dealers at the top of the page. Wolverine, among others.

I love these type of rifles. SO many mods out there for them and a bazillion different configs you can make up. A ton of fun at the range/in the bush and cheap ammo. Reliable, atleast my have been so far (knock on wood). PLus they look badass!!

Whats not to love about them.

Can you comfortably use the iron sights with your setup?

The iron sights on these guns are awesome. Ive been able to repeatedly shoot a 15" gong at 300 yards. This is one of the few guns I have bought that hasn't pissed me off.

Thanks, mate! I'd like to hunt with a VZ with that slapped on to it.

Also, what do you mean by "it was a PITA to get?" Did you buy those accessories before they were available from the dealers or is one part particularly difficult to obtain?

Absolutely wonderful collection of bad, scary guns. :)

Is that a POSP scope on that rifle? I want to buy a VZ and mount a POSP scope on it. Where can I get one?

Wow nice collection you have there. I certainly like the one in the middle with full wood stock but with the grain pattern on the one below it. So where can the tactical stocks be got and also the wooden one like the one pictured. I checked out Wolverine Supplies website for a replacement stock but couldn't find any.I don't have one of these guns " YET" and that is the key word, but looking at some of the pictures on here and reading some of the comments I certainly am leaning toward a purchase in the very near future.

Can't use the iron sights with the straight stock adapter. I use the NEA cantilever mount with a Vortex Sparc red dot.
Actually it depends on the rear stock adaptor. The Dlask one yes it can all be it a little unconfertable. NEA ones no and the StomWorkez one yes no problem with the adjustment of ones screws.

Someone needs to make a new front & rear sight to help with all these stock adapters. ;)
