i just bought a CZ-858 4v from wolverine and the crown was very beat up and chipped and the bore was very dark . Do they use old surplus barrels for these restricted CZs?? So i sent it back and exchanged it for a new 4v i thought i just got a lemon , a few weeks later i got the new one and it was worse chipped crown and the paint seems to scratch of very easy this rifle is nothing like my long barrel 2v, I wasted $40 on shipping the first one back i dont wana do it again. has anyone had this problem??

Like you said,i have a 858 non-restricted and barrel is perfect and the paint is very very resistant. Can you post pics of your cz858 4v?

As said many times in other posts.
It's best to look, fondle the firearm or what ever in person, before purchasing.
This way you know what your getting for your money.
Buyer beware.

Thats fine and dandy if your near the store. Some of us live in the middle of no where lol

Most of my purchases have been thru the Internet, and there have been several. Haven't been disappointed yet.

I bought the non-restricted CZ858 version from Wolverine. Impeccable workmanship and great finish. Shot bullseye out of the box with surplus ammo. I love mine.

Stoped buying stuff of the internet, only because of the bull sh!t i've gone through in the past. Paying to shipp the item back etc, etc. The deal on the net is then not a deal, time wasted. Better off paying a little more to get what you want in person.

cant agree with you on this, i bot about 20 rifles thru the internet in 2009 and i only had one disappointment and it was my fault cos when i picked it up , i should have checked it again .

most of the rifle and parts i bot are not avail at my local gun store and i live in a big city so i can understand the internet would be a great help to those in the country side.

heres an example, went to 3 gunstore looking for CZ858-4 and none of them have any , they said they can order them in , heck, i can do the same so why bother going thru the store?

Hey I purchased my CZ858 at Epps, in fact I did drive 1 1/2 hours just to get there. At the time Epps had 1/2 a dozen Cz858's in stock, I fondled every one of them & picked the best of the lot. 2 of the cz858's front sights were off centre, 1 had folding stock issues, when opened, it was wobley. So buying from a store in person does have it's advantages & avoiding problemmatic firearms.

ok, are you talking about restricted ?

bcos there is plenty of non-restricted in my city , matter a fact i did buy one from a gunstore a few years ago but the same store doesnt carry the restricted model , why? i have no idea, they said they have to order in .

I bought a new CZ-858-4V, ostensibly a Wolverine import. The bore, and in fact the entire rifle, is quite simply flawless. I think the only rounds the barrel has yet seen are the ones used to shoot the test target I got with it, and appears to be brand new. Not sure why everyone else has a surplus barrel, maybe I just got lucky?

well i got sick of looking at the chipped up crown so i took a dremel tool and gave it a new one and blued it i think i did very good its my first time doing anything like this lets hope it does better at the range this time heres some pics

Firstly I trust everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and best wishes for the New Year.

I will try and answer this publically voiced complaint as objectively as I can, but first understand that we are closed for Christmas holidays so I can not talk to any of my staff about the CZ rifle in question. The owner has not identified himself nor has he posted any photos showing the barrel crown.

If the owner did receive a replacement rifle with a substandard crown he did indeed have cause for complaint. We do ask that all customers who believe they have cause for complaint to contact myself (John) or my wife Pat first, if we can not rectify the situation to the customers satisfaction, then you are welcome to go public. We pride ourselves on our customer service, that is what we have built our business on, but mistakes do happen and we are always looking at ways to improve our service.

Most of the comments made is this thread, whilst I am sure well intended, do not clarify anything. I will not answer each in detail, I have already covered our customer service ethics and our Warranty is fully explained on our web page.

We made it very clear from the very beginning that the CZ 858 rifle as supplied to us is “NEW PRODUCTION” we have never claimed that she is a new rifle, not all the parts will be new apart from the receiver. Some other parts may be new, used or NOS (New Old Stock) we have no control over that. The restricted length chrome lined barrels are not new production, they may be used or NOS. The non restricted length barrels are new manufacture that is why they are not chrome lined. Any used parts will obviously have to be up to a acceptable standard before they are used, we have no control over this. We have imported a huge quantity of theses rifles, the return rate is extremely low, we have kept the price low and offer an extremely attractive dealer discount. Our sales figures would indicate that we have many very satisfied customers.

Finally I have to congratulate you on what appears to be an excellent DIY muzzle crown job, hopefully your rifle will shoot to your satisfaction. If not let me know, but technically you have voided the warranty with this unauthorized gun smithing.
