What is the demand like for these. I was just called about one. 2 stocks & 2 sight sets. Don’t remember # of mags. As they will be prohib, are any selling? I have no idea on these guns.

Only specific models from specific years have been deemed prohib by the powers that be, you're going to have to get more info based on serial or date of manu.

Incorrect. The first time around the early model years escaped prohibition. However this time its a blanket ban on all 858.

That’s incorrect... they haven’t been prohibited by name. Ones that aren’t converted autos are staying in their original classification, the converted autos have been made prohibited and eligible for grandfathering. (Once that portion of C71 comes into force.)

Seems like I got the info that only early model ones are "not prohibited" which depends on the serial number which can be traced to a year when they are build. Correct ?

I don’t think it can be determined by serial number. The original RCMP info was that the “large window” created by milling off the military acceptance marks was the indicator.

With the Turd in Chief flailing to stay above water at the moment, and the rabid anti-gunners temporarily appeased, I give it a 50/50 chance that the prohibitions come into force before the writ drops for an election. Trudeau is already going to lose a few rural ridings over C-71, and things are too close right now for him to risk any more. Any more messing with guns is likely to wait until after the election now.

The 858/Swiss-Arms banpocalypse will require an Order In Council, which is a fairly "public" thing to do. And it isn't 100% clear which 858's are going to be on the chopping block. The RCMP have admitted they don't have a faint foggy clue how many of these rifles are in the country, how they would go about convincing people to register them, and what the administrative process will be to grandfather possibly as many as 15,000 (or more) license holders with spiffy new 12.x licenses.

Both the Liberals and the RCMP are terrified of another non-compliance fiasco, which was the true reason for the death of the original registry. Estimates are that as little as 50% of the guns in the country were registered - and that's terrible optics for the "civilized, polite, law abiding" citizenship that our government likes to portray Canadians as on the world stage.

But that's assuming a rational and sane Liberal Leadership, which is a dangerous assumption to make at the best of times.

Interesting, but are they selling? He wants to sell and I would only be turning it over. As I said, I know didiley squat about them. Thanks.

there was a rush of EE ads in 2018 as uninformed people coveted prohib PALs thinking they get to play with FALs and AKs. After realising it's a separate license nobody wants them anymore.

IMO, going from NR to P will remove 50% of the value. After CFO stops issuing ATTs another 25% will go away.

I don't think they will sell all that well until the whole deal with what will happen to them is sorted out.

When I contacted the RCMP about what happened to their "grandfathering the cz858 " website they said the information is no longer valid and that they will only know once the order in council happens..

So as far as I can tell, the dates of having to own one prior to X date is also invalid and C-71 will probably only be revived after the election..

Would I buy one? If the price is right and low enough that I wouldn't mind taking the loss if the laws ever sway the wrong way.. that being said, most people who are looking at those types of things are probably all shopping for VZ58s right now..

Sell it for 6-700 and it will sell quick. 1200-1500,You will hold on to it for a long time. Depending how long you have owned it you might get what you Paid for it in a quick sale. Just my opinion. Also I think it is against the rules to sell third party. Cheers
