Cz-858 And hunting.?

I think what he was getting at was that reservations are somewhat notorious for Ak's and other somewhat marginal firearms being used on game, as well aa disregarding the hunting regs. You speak of having an AK but do you have the 12(x) needed to own it? As well, how long is several years ago, 5? 10? 20? Besides that fact that you'd need a non-restricted firearms to legally hunt in AB

Not being a ####, I just want some clarification

So, if you have 12(x) and an AK, then you can take it to the woods and hunt with it? I thought you can only hunt with Non-Rest in Canada...

Thank you, I wasn't trying to be a ####, just pointing out its not really "kosher" to hunt with an AK (read, illegal). I know a few native's who do, thats all. Sorry if I hit the wrong button, and hell man... we all make mistakes while learning!!

Actually while I was hunting with the AK it was NON-RESTRICTED, that was back in 1987or so. Hard to get ammo then but with the 5 rd mag it was perfectly legal meeting the AB mag restriction and minimum calibre requirement.

But that round would have been illegal for hunting back then......

Beat me to it...:)

Ask this guy if 7.62x39 from a CZ858 works for hunting...oh wait, the top of his skull is mush and he's dead...

To be honest the CZ was the backup gun, the initially shot(s) were either .303 or 30.06. You can read the whole thread in the link above...:)

Okay, here we go. In 1987 as it is now in Alberta, the MINIMUM CALIBRE IS .23 or .24, don't have the regs in front of me rigth now. Therefore a calibre of .311 was and is LEGAL!!!!!

It's the case length that would have got you back then. 7.62x39 would have been to short, that rule was changed maybe 5 years ago.
