CZ-858 barrel changeable?

Do you mean stainless, or chrome lined?

Either way, the only chrome lined barrels in-country are the ones for the VZ58. If you changed barrels, you'd need to get it verified and re-registered as a restricted.

I don't think they are pinned.

Hmm, I have never seen a drop of rust in my barrel or action and my cz has seen lots of corrosive ammo.
 
Well I do not know what the issue with mine is but I was seriously thinking of selling it. There is no point in keeping something that will not stop rusting. The barrel is totally rusty from the breech to the muzzle. I have cleaned it every four or five days yet every time I go back to check on it has an actual layer of rust, not deep but rusty none the less.

Ceska, do you have the 58 or the 858?

the cfc will NOT let you register a non restricted to restricted many of us have tried

my cz58 has not rusted i shot it about 3 months agao and DID NOT clean it NO rust (except where the paint on the upper handguard burned off)
 
I meant a long barrel in stainless. There must be a gunsmith in the country who can put a barrel on for me surely? Not a 58 barrel but a new custom stainless one.
The cost would be worth it in my estimation. The rifle is light, shoots a nice intermediate .30 cal bullet and is semi-automatic. Because the rifle is relatively cheap does not mean it is not a quality arm. The cost is low because of an artificial exchange rate only. Were it to be made in Canada one would expect to pay at least $1,000-$1,500.
The CZ58 and 858 are excellent rifles from a nation with a history of firearms innovation and craftsmanship.
 
Silly question, maybe, but are you remembering to swab with oil after cleaning? Flowers of rust will always form if you clean all of the surface crud off the bore and then leave it exposed to humid air.
 
Not a silly question at all. My mistake, I was told, was to allow the water to quickly evaporate without swabbing the barrel to remove the salts. Oil apparently will not disolve them.
So the next time out at the range I'll make sure to swab the barrel with a patch or two before the boiling water has a chance to evaporate.
 
the barrels are a ##### to remove they are pressed in

it can be done but its hard you can go to some of the american ak47 buiding sites and use a tool similar to the ones they use to press barrels in and out

some come out real easy others not so......

you smith would have to turn a blank to the same size press it in set up the gas system

I have the same problem with my CZ-858 barrel. The only way (I can't clean it on the range) is to drive home, pour windex down the barrel, let it sit, spray the ENTIRE RIFLE, and I mean everything, with Windex, then use a bristle brush and patches to put copious amounts of nitro powder solvent in the barrel, and clean all parts using both the windex and nitro powder solvent. The clean the windex and nitro powder solvent out of the barrel and all parts, and apply oil, reassemble, and spray oil into the action and all moving parts. That way, only the barrel will rust.
 
Man those 858 barrels must blow if you need to put that much work into cleaning them.

My VZ58 just needs a pot of boiling water down the barrel and on the gas system, and then clean as usual. No rust!
