CZ 858 bolt stuck closed

I was out shooting my CZ legally in the beautiful crown land of alberta when one particular round I fired jammed it shut. I noticed the barrel getting hotter and hotter, but I ignored it; thinking it would pass the stress test.

My first thoughts was simply the cartridge expanded and the extracter was stuck on it; looking up the gremlin etc. I denoted this was simply not the problem; and that indeed most likely it was the cartridge.

Now I am no gun smith; would I be terrible stupid to hit the bolt with a rubber mallet to see if it comes free before I bring it in? Or should I rush that puppy to the gunsmith so he can eat my money?

I would try the rubber mallet. It won't break anything and may save you some $.
I had a similar issue with my M-14 once. Mallet unstuck the bolt and ejected the spent casing.

Used to happen a fair bit with C9 LMGs.

We occasionally used the sling to extract stuck cartridges.

You can probably use 550 para cord tied to your butt stock. Wrap it forward to cocking handle and pull back using a makeshift handle. Screwdriver or some such will work fine.

It will give you mechanical advantage to extract the spent casing.

give me some leverage eh? I am just glad it isn't the mechanism. A bit of a pain, I couldn't imagine something like that happening on the battle feild eh? haha Well time to sort this puppy out

Mallet, 2x4, the edge of a post or workbench. Or kick it open with your boot.

just make sure the thing didn't cycle a load a fresh round.... but also, boot heal is by far my favorite method on jammed firearms. much better leverage than rubber hammer.

I did a work bench meets charging handle; I never thought of the work booth method. A quick clean, and good as new! Thanks for all the help guys!

Give your chamber a good scrubbing with lacquer thinner to remove any build-ups from the cases and keep it clean.

That should avoid repeats.
