cz 858 bore rust

I shoot salty ammo all the time, this is what i do

1) strip and poor boiling water down gas port and barrel
2) use cleaning rod and scrub out barrel
3) run a patch thu to get excess water out
4) run a new patch with solvent
5) clean action and individual parts with solvent and brush, then put it all together and oil

never had any problems
 
Recently I tried an experiment.
When out shooting in the rain with corrosive ammo. Got it wet and got it hot.

Came home put one oil soaked patch through the bore and hung it in the rack. I left it there for a week. In this last couple of weeks the humidity here in Calgary has been hovering around 80-90%, so I figure I'm in the prime to get some rust.

I pulled it down day before yesterday and cleaned it. There was no rust.

So I dunno what the hell you guys who are getting rust are doing wrong. Maybe you've just got to oil your bores more or maybe stop shooting the gun red-hot every time, I dunno. Maybe you're just unlucky.
 
Well.. I can tell you my story, i bought a brand new cz858 about 2-3months ago shot it first day with around 40 rounds of corrosive ammo, totally forgot about it until 2 days ago so it's been sitting for months with corrosive residue i panicked tried to clean it.. second day there was still rust in there, i tried cleaning again this time with windex, it helped remove some of it, then i used Hoppes No.9 and WOW this thing cleaned it ultra shiney, even when they bore was clean i used it and it still came out black this stuff is awesome! very powerful tho, then i dry swabbed it, and then oil swabbed it a few times, bore is still perfect condition

So anyone wondering about rust in cz858 and corrosive ammo, read above :)
 
After I cleaned it with Gunzilla, I ran a patch of oil through it. I checked a couple days later and the barrel is still shiney and clean.:) I had great shooting with it on last Sunday. I think I got a shooter! As THE man says: OIL.

I can't believe you didn't get an infraction for this post. While we are playing nice as dealers, we expect the same in return.

You sir, are a complete tool. And I am not talking about any tool you would find in a tool box. Those are valuable.

Gunzilla is an excellent,product, you can't go wrong with it. I use something else, but it's difficult to find.....1943 USGI bore cleaner. The stuff cleans, shines up barrels, and protects like nuttin' else. I got three cans and hording, it's the cat's pajamas. :)
 
All I do is spray mine with wd40 dont even run the brush in it and never have had rust
 
Ok, I gotta ask you Canadians, where are you getting corrosive 7.62x39 and just how cheap is it that it's worth shooting?
Down here non-corrosive Golden Tiger is $189/1000
I have never seen corrosive 7.62x39 and I have been shooting it since the '80s

We get surplus Czech steel-core M43 and pretty much nothing else, right now. There's some commercial non-corrosive loadings but you're looking at $14/20 and up for that.

The Czech is $175-200 for a case of 1120 or 1200, depending on the source.

Gunzilla cleans my black powder guns in 5 patches instead of the usual 20!! Never tried it on milsurp though. Can't say how it would work against murcuricfulmanate salts.
I stopped using milsurp when I found out about the steel jackets. I fired a box and a half of 7.62x54R ammo and did experience the rusting issues too. I used household ammonia and solved that problem though.
