The brake, when installed, does not butt up tight onto the barrel. I findd this annoying, although I understand it is normal.

The threaded barrel is 14mm. Same as a spark plug. Same as a spark plug washer. The washer is soft copper or aluminum. All you have to do is file a little round notch for the locking pin.

go to lordco, or any autoparts supply store and get a black rubber "o" ring. cant remember the exact diameter but just measure the od of the threaded end of the barrel tip. theyre so cheap the guy just gave it to me for free. waaay less noticible than some ugly bright copper ring, and wont ever rattle cause its rubber. no cutting or modifying needed just put it on and screw your muzzle break or flash hider or whatever you want to put on the end of the rifle, fits snug and NO MORE WOBBLING. I too hated how it rattled when you moved the rifle.

mine came with the rubber o ring (previous owner must have installed it) and it works great

kind of annoying that they all dont index properly though

Those look like oil drain plug gaskets. They do come in 14mm diameter among other sizes. If you were going to file one, the crushable aluminum ones are easiest to work with, copper not so much.
