But after 10,000 rounds. Nice to have a couple of spare parts kits :D

it just broke

Perhaps metal fatigue ? Didnt seem to be a stressed part.
The bolt just locked up after a shot.
Works fine with the replacement piece. :D

I don't believe this could cause a kaboom as the sides are what locks the bolt and they are under compression force, this is most likely caused by fatigue of the metal due to work hardening. Interesting though, I would not have expected this to ever happen I would have figured the receiver would go out first. I wonder how long one side was cracked before they both went? Anyhow I will now inspect these for cracks every time I field strip.

I can put it under the micro scope at work if your willing to part with it for a couple days? It would be nice to see what is going on. Could also do some hardness testing in multiple areas to see if there was any work hardening? I'll split the shipping if your into it.

It is hard to tell the usage of the rifles as they hold up very well and don't show too many signs of wear, but you can bet for sure that some of the rifles you and I are getting are built with parts that have seen 50k plus before we touch them. I have parts kits that look brand new and ones that the outside looks like its been through 5 wars and all of them internally look awesome, I have never seen or heard of one with a shot out bore, one of the main signs of wear.
