I've watched any videos I could find and I've read through all the posts on the site about cleaning the CZ-858. I have practiced stripping the rifle.

I do not intend to shoot it... have a case of the corrosive Czech milsurp... until I've got the cleaning thing sorted out. As far as the barrel, the moving parts etc, I think I got that, but what's the best way to ensure the gas port is cleaned properly?

Would you 'jet' air through the gas port? Is the water down the barrel gonna rinse it out adequately?

Hot water, like the barrel and chamber. If you want to particular with the gas block put a rag over your pinky.

For the port itself, you have a tool for this.
The 'L' shaped pointy rod is; honest to god, the "gas port cleaning tool".

Go to the dollar store and buy some pipe cleaners! I know I'm a genius. I use the ones that have the longer shaggy material on them, and cut them into 4 pieces each.

Just pour hot water down the gas port, followed by a dry pipe cleaner, then one soaked in solvent, then a good scub with a dry one, and last a light oil. Just make sure you do the steps the same as the barrel. Does you no good to clean the barrel then push all the crap from the gas block into a clean barrel.
