CZ 858 Corroded And Rusted (HELP!)

Hi guys, sorry in advance if i have posted this in the wrong section. Also I used to search to find a cleaning thread for corrosion and had no luck. I have a CZ 858 that I lent to a friends before the reclassification. He told me that he had cleaned it thoroughly before returning it to me. I just pulled it out of storage after about 4 or 5 years and took it apart. it is rusted inside the barrel and the gas piston has rust on the end of it. also where the gas piston fits inside is rusted out. please help as i need some tips on how to remove the rust without damaging the rifle further.
 
Oil and some scotchbrite should help. Pictures would be good.
Corrosion may look worse than it is.
I may be looking for a little project if you want to sell;)

2. Get his credit card number.
3. Buy a new gun.

I have never seen or heard of anyone who completely got rid of all the rust from corrosive ammo. Even the smith at my LGS couldn't do it 100%. and he charged the dude a lot of $ too!

After shooting corrosive the rifle needs to be cleaned with soap and hot water to get the salts out of it then dried and properly oiled before being put away for storage. Simply wiping it out and then putting a few drops of oil is fine for short term storage but not for 4-5 years.

A few years ago a buddy of mine gave me his SKS to try to save and it took me hours of scraping and cleaning to get it functioning again. It looked like crap afterwards but at least it worked again.

Lesson you should have learned from this is to never lend out your firearms, I'll let my buddies shoot my guns but they don't get to borrow them. Next time someone asks tell them to buy their own.

Hot soapy water followed by a good drying and oiling.

It sucks that much imported ammo that says "Non Corrosive" actually is corrosive as hell.

I refuse to shoot the crap but I don't have a 7.62 x 39 either.

True. Maybe the "friend" wasn't aware of how he should have cleaned it. If it were mine, I would have inspected it and questioned the "friend" on how he cleaned it before just putting it away and forgetting about if for so long.

Just like if you let a vehicle sit too long, a year, ok cool, throw a battery in it and it should start with no problems. 5 years?? Better clean all the old fluids out of it and they would have collected moisture in all resovoirs, so there's your "rust"
