So i was happily shooting my new 858, when all of a sudden the trigger is dead. I #### the gun manually, ejecting a live round, and the trigger is still dead. It just doesn't do anything, unlike the typical gremlin with a click but no primer strike.

This gun had less than 200 rounds through it. I don't know anything about the actual mechanism of the gun.

I figure it may be a simple matter to solve, so I'm asking here before I take the issue to the dealer. I'll gladly provide pics of whatever you may need to help me solve this problem.

This is really depressing.

Dry fire(if possible) and remove the rear cover. Pull the bolt back and with the muzzle pointed down, push it forward all the way. See if the striker resets on the sear. If it does, flip the safety off and pull the trigger, muzzle pointed down. The striker should fall. If it passes this, then all is well, if there is a problem along the way then you can isolate it and figure it out.

I may have talked too fast when I said I would provide pics of the internals...I can't take the receiver cover off. It lifts about 2mm but it won't come off...

This happened to mine today. Shot a few rounds then the trigger felt like it had been fired. Racked it ejecting a perfect round chambering the next and fired ok. Shot a couple mags then the same thing.
I'd like some insight on this too.

Spanner.

This happened to my buddy a while ago.. this is how we fixed it for good. :

youll have to take off the grip and get in there with a screwdriver and press on the sear to realease the trigger

So I removed the grip, and now I'm wondering how do I release the trigger? I tried pressing on everything I see in there, but it didn't do much. I don't want to press too hard on the wrong part...

Did the striker drop the same as when you shoot it?

Do you have the pin pushed all the way through? Can you see if the striker is still to the rear looking by through the PG hole?

You can always recock it and drop the striker with the trigger, now that you know how to fix the gremlin.

Ok, that worked.

Now the cover lifts about 5mm but it still won't come off.:(

the back part lifts up, enough to clear the big tab at the back, then it pulls backward, over the rear stock. the bolt needs to be all the way forward, and some paint may be causing the front to fit tight, just wiggle and pull back. then post a pic of the trigger group.

So I cocked it and dropped the striker with the trigger.

This is as far as I can lift the cover. It is still at least 2mm from clearing the 2 tabs. And I am pulling up hard enough that my fingers hurt.

I just don't feel like I should try to pry it open. How does it hold at the front?

That's the first thing I tried. Seeing field stripping videos on youtube I never expected this to be a problem.

If I pry it high enough to clear the tab the front of the cover is pushing down on the bolt so hard that it's wedged there, and I can't push it backward, so spring pressure is not enough by far.

This is getting wierd.

You shouldn't need to pry anything. How far forward can you push the cover?

Edit: is the nut from the PG bolt jammed into something? Maybe it's keeping the striker from moving all the way forward.
