Now that these are back to former classifications. I've been thinking about picking one up. A buddy has one for sale with a broken firing pin. I've seen the parts around and would be a easy swap. But curious if this is a common issue with them or possibly only happens with some countries that manufacture 7.62 x 39? Any of you guys/gals that have long term use of the cz 858 have any issues with the firing pins break I would like to hear.

Over 3000 rounds through mine, still no failures of any kind. Sounds like your buddy may have had a bad one or maybe it wasn't an 858 but one of the csa's that had issues? Or just a freak one that broke. Anyway, parts are cheap and easy to change, have confidence that the 858 is a good rifle and you should have little to no issues with it.

Mine just broke. Easy to replace. I think it is common from what I've read here. One vendor sells them for $20 each.

I had a buddy whose firing pin broke in his CSA, but haven't heard about it too much in the CZ. Like anything though, there are bound to be a few. Mine still runs like a top close to 1K and as mentioned before they are fairly cheap and easy to find.

.

I have two CZ858s and never had one fail but maybe that's because I have a spare one...

I read this from Dlask Arms Corp:
"CZ 858 / VZ 58 Firing pin for 7.62 x 39. Czech military surplus part, has been packed in Cosmoline for the past 60 years. These are a very common wear item for the 858 / 58 and they are getting harder and harder to find so get them while they last."

Google them, they have them in stock for $21 each and they are located in Delta, B.C.

Maybe this is a bad question but is the firing pin interchangeable between the 7.62x39 and .223 model?

Early CSA pins would break quite often - especially on the 223 model.

I am sure tha VZ858 pins would fail also - I don't know of any firearm where a part (eg. firing pin) doesn't break from time to time. I have personally found them broken on Ross rifles, Mausers, MG34's, Radom Pistols and the list goes on.

If you need a 7.62x39 military firing pin Corwin Arms and Dlask has them and if you PM me I would have a few as well.

Very generous offer alchemist, thank you . I did find a parts kit and went for it. Swapped out the pin and all good. Love it. She's a nice shooter. My buddy gave me a super deal as well, $400!! Non restricted.
