Bought a CZ858 yesterday with a folding stock yesterday. It may be a case of me being an idiot but when i took it home i couldn't seem to get the stock to lock.

i looked at the mechanism, and it seems that the centre of the hinge will fall into the notch when its fully open or closed, but mine doesn't drop. Maybe because the stock needs to rotate another mm or so on both ends.

Does the centre of the hinge visibly drop into the notch? as mine is flush with the top the entire time.

Is there something i need to do to engage the lock?

sorry no pics of the problem, just thought id check here first, and worse case, i go and exchange it tomorrow morning.

thanks

When I bought mine, it was EXTREMELY tight. Try squirting either WD40 or a penetrating oil around the center pin and folding/unfolding the stock a dozen times or so. Then bang the pin down if needed with a small hammer or a magazine.

In normal operation you push the lock button on the bottom, the keyed tab moves from flush with the top of the hinge to a raised position disengaging the lock. Then you can swing the buttstock open or closed and when youre there, release it and the keyed tab will drop back in flush with the top of the hinge, locking the buttstock in place. They are crudely machined and are often very difficult to push the button up in some positions. How does yours differ from this discription?

Take it apart and clean it and as mentioned before spray some lubricant and open/close it several times. To take the pin out just unscrew the cap (or button head)... watch out there is a spring in there... also be careful of the cap threads they are very few so watch you dont accidentally strip it when putting it back on...I have never stripped one yet...but I could see it happening...dont overtighten and when you have it where you want it a lil teeny drop of threadlocker keeps it there

thanks for the tips .. i ended up just exchanging it, no hassles. Guy at the shop looked at it, and said he'd just exchange it rather than mess around with it, he was going to FAB one up anyways.

It really looked like a defect, where the stock would have to rotate a bit further either way for the lock to engage - filing parts down might have allowed this. Also the movement, the keyed tab was always flush with the top, which is different than what supernova described (his description is the same as how my new one works)

either way, all's well that ends well, now just need to get some rounds through it! ;)
