just wondering if anyone out there knows if its possible to move the whole front sight assembly back a couple inches on the cz-858?

or the front sight welded on...?

Drift out the two pins and move to your hears content!
The barrel is the same diameter from the front of the gas system to the threaded bit at the end. And you want to do this why? The BIG advantage of the 858 over the 58 is the added sight radious. Why would you wish to take that away?

I just measured the barrel at a point between the two front sight pins and the rest of the barrel (note: this is with the lacquer) and they are not the same diameter. I get 14.4mm on the barrel at the sight and 15.1mm behind the sight on the rest of the barrel.

hmm.. so the barrel itself should be the same thickness, just the paint made it thicker in some parts?

so.. should be moveable then.

excellent!

thanks guys!

Gentlemen:

Ever since I have become enamored with the VZ-58 type carbine Design I have searched many threads for short-krinker type carbines.

The following is 999 effort, and I must say that it is quite impressive. I belive he used the VZ-58 rifle, and not the CZ-858.

Thanks to Zeddy for continuing to host these pictures.

I take no credit for any of the above, just posting for those that might be curious.

Regard and all the best

If you happen to be changing barrel length, remember not to go under 18.5" with an 858 since it is non-restricted. Heavy Dark found the same thing with the barrel thickness as I did, so I think you would have to turn the barrel down about half a mm to slid the sight block back as well as making new pin grooves.

Why do you want to move the sight back???
