Hi guy. Does the front site come off just like the sks. I want to slid on a fake can. I know mall ninja.lol. But I am leaving my 51 tula untouched. There is guy advertising on ee that makes them for a good price. Makes them out of aluminum.

THANK Brent

Thanks for that info. Now going to order that fake can. Going to have him put a threaded collor half way down the can. That will give the barrel the look of been shorter. I will post pics of my CZ Whisper when its all done.
Cheers

Oh crap you said front right. I thought you meant rear sight. To remove the front sight you have to drive those retaining pins out and then press the front right post off with a hydraulic press.

Would a good strong gear puller work. Other wise I will take it to a fab shop and get them to do it. Thanks for the update.

Maybe. Don't damage the crown though. I don't think the gunsmith at Granlund firearms does anything like that. I think he just does really basic stuff. Then again though, he was a main dealer for the CZ 858.

Hey feistylemur you dont know #### about me. Who said I am chopping this rifle up. Slidding the front site off does not wreck it. It can allways be put back on. Anyways what right do you have telling me how and what I can do to my stuff that I paid for. And by the way, these rifles are set up just like I am doing by armforces in the eastern block. So stay out of my threads and go cry in your own thread.

Thank you for all the help guys. Will post pics when it is all done. O by the way there are certian thing I have to do so that I can shoot. I am a high level quad with no hand function due to a drunk driver.

Now adays you never know whos joking in here. There are so many that think they have the right to push their opion on everyone. I come in here to learn or pass on gun related stuff. Not have some guy with a $4000 ar that it wrong to do some thing to my 200 gun. If you were joking please accept my apoligy. Have a good night

I have seen someone move the front sight back to where it would be on a standard 14.5" barrel (this is a tac-2?) then put a fake can over the remaining 4".

Looks slick

I had a fake can at one time. Seems to me removing the front sights was just punching out two pins and them giving the whole assembly a good whack with a hammer on a 2x4 placed against the base. Popped off no problem! No need for any press. Don't even need to touch the crown!

This/\/\.

I have never removed the front sight but have removed the gas block. I used a solid piece of wood and a hammer should do the trick. Gas block slid off with a few hard wacks.

barefoot, sorry for the side track.

over the years , I have seen some really nice can attached to the VZ, I even contemplated doing it myself bcos I didn't like the looks of my NR having such a long barrel . it actually looks much better with the can .

on RR we have some ingenious and talented people, its refreshing to see their works .

Thanks again for all the info. The fellow that makes these cans quoted me $80 pluss shipping. What is nice about it is its threaded 2 thirds of the way down to makethe barrel look shorter. I like the idea of slidding the site down closer to the gas block. I havent decided on a butt stock yet. I was just looking at m14.ca tube style stock. Nice simple lines, will compliment the cz.
Cheers for now Brent

Ahh I guess when I watched the guys at CSA put the front sight posts on they just used Hydraulic presses for a more accurate way of measure the distance the front sight post sits.

I expect it was pressed on originally but if I remember correctly there are two cross cut grooves in the top of the barrel that the pins fit into when inserted through the site base. That sort of lines & squares things up there. They must align the site base in a jig with the receiver and have the press set to a certain depth to meet up with the pin groves. Well designed actually to stop at the right spot on the barrel and then align using the cross pins.
