CZ 858 gremlin

Unreliable is probably one of the words you would least likely use to describe a 858.Great gun man,i mean you seriously cant go wrong with one.Gremlin happens in a small percentage, and even then its completely fixable.

Mine had the gremlin almost half the time when I was slow shooting.
I just sent my carrier off to Broncoo to get tabbed.
Very reasonable and once it's done I'm confident my rifle will be as reliable as it would have been without the gutted internals.

I still for the life of me do not understand why you have to throw more money at a so called quality rifle to make it function normal. If there is a function concern from the factory it should be fixed at no charge.

can some explain what they mean buy gremlin

The sear will fail to catch the striker if you release the trigger and then pull it again while the action is ejecting a spent casing. The striker will travel forward with the bolt carrier, the bolt carrier and bolt have alot more mass plus have the resistance of stripping a round off the mag. This slows the striker down to the point where it doesnt have enough energy to ignite the primer. Basically when your firing rapid fire you pull the trigger mid-string and nothing happens. Eject that chambered round and notice it has a light strike, rechamber it and boom. That is how I observed the gremlin in my own CZ-858-2. The new "tab" holds the disconnector down so the sear will stay in the up position until just before the round is fully chambered and bolt locked. Then its business as usual. Ive heard other discriptions of the gremlin but that is how it works in my rifle.

Absolutely what's up with mine too.
Incidentally it occurs when your trying to hold the trigger right at it's break point in slow shooting for maximum accuracy as well. (Kind of riding the sear)

I have only put about 1000 rounds through mine but i haven't even had a cough from mine. Very reliable no problem with the surplus ammo no problems from the rifle.

So... about 2/10 guys who replied have seen the gremlin... I wonder if thats an accurate indicator or not. Maybe the guys with problems are more likely to speak up.

There was a poll a couple of years ago that, IIRC, showed 30-40% of respondents had the gremlin to one degree or another.

Of my two 858s one has never done it. The other did it 1 time out of 100. Getting a tab installed is cheap and fixes the problem 100%. The CSA guns come tabbed.

When I first had mine on the second mag it didnt fire. It has never happend again over 1k rounds later
