I'm thinking of getting a cz 858 but I really don't like an unreliable semi auto. Just how common of a problem is the gremlin.
can some explain what they mean buy gremlin
The sear will fail to catch the striker if you release the trigger and then pull it again while the action is ejecting a spent casing. The striker will travel forward with the bolt carrier, the bolt carrier and bolt have alot more mass plus have the resistance of stripping a round off the mag. This slows the striker down to the point where it doesnt have enough energy to ignite the primer. Basically when your firing rapid fire you pull the trigger mid-string and nothing happens. Eject that chambered round and notice it has a light strike, rechamber it and boom. That is how I observed the gremlin in my own CZ-858-2. The new "tab" holds the disconnector down so the sear will stay in the up position until just before the round is fully chambered and bolt locked. Then its business as usual. Ive heard other discriptions of the gremlin but that is how it works in my rifle.
