I'm looking at the CSA 858 in 223, and I'm somewhat concerned about reliability issues. How reliable is the gun itself? And how are the Gen 2 magwell adapters?

Thanks,

Brandon

My good buddy has a vz58 in 556 with the adapter. He swears by this combo and he has 4000 or so rounds through it. He said certain mags needed tweaking to work(followers binded bolt hold open tab iirc) and pmags don't work. On the flip side I've read of a few 223 CSAs going catastrophic so it might be a crap shoot??
Good luck

I own two .223 vz's and love em. I had my 7.5" struggle to extract Norinco yellow box ammo. I don't put that crap in any of my guns anymore.

Never used the magwell adapter. Between two guns I've got 5 mags to share, so that keeps me happy.

Hi heard,
The. 223 vz58 from 2012-2013 have gas port hole issues among other issues. As the gas port is to large for the. 223 being designed for the 7.62.
Could be wrong that's what i heard from movie armament.
That said I think it's only with 7.5 and 12" barrel lengths not the 18".

Have a 18in and from the factory the mags were pinned far to tight so tight that after shooting 100 rounds one mag had a crack from one end to the other and the second had a all the way around the mag, as I was retrieving some fire arms couple weeks later noticed plastic all over my safe the magazine broke under the pressure of the springs now with that being said I believe the quality of the polymer in the mag adaptor is far superior to the plastic of the factory mags. knock on wood mine has been super reliable before and after the conversion with any ammo I could put in it plus the availability of ar mags its win win go with the kit its awesome just remember you'll need a ar mag release assembly to make it work

Just had mine come back from warranty repair. Only took a few weeks, didn't pay a dime, rifle is almost as good as new. With the 5 year warranty service CSA has, I wouldn't worry about if the gun comes apart on you while you're shooting. Just send it off to Movie Arms and they're fix it up good.

I use the AR magwell adapter. Standard US OK surplus magazines work great in mine. Last round bolt hold open even works. I have two Lar-15 magazines and both fail to operate the last round bolt hold open but feed really well. I have one unlabeled steel Chinese magazine that sits to low in the magwell for it to feed. However, it looks as though if I just replace the follower, it might work as its only just a few mm lower than the feed lip and the US magazines followers sight a bit higher in the magazine that the Chinese steel mag. Very satisfied by my .223 Vz 58.

my vz broke then bolt , i sent it to movie armament, they had to change the piston cause it was cycling too hard thats what broke the bolt, took one week to get it back, now it works fine,,but its not reliable like my norc t97,now that baby really rocks and its more fun to shoot
